Finding a venue

Have you considered looking at community centers? We are having ours at one and we get it for 10 hours for 275 dollars. It's has pretty neutral decor so it's easy to decorate

View Quoted Comment Depends where you are located . I found my venue for 7k and it fits 300ppl. It includes tables/chairs, linens, bartender, waiters, and a cake. I googled my ass off lol. Something along the lines of “affordable hidden gem venues in my city” and looked for Facebook pages of venues that are not highly advertised in the wedding industry. Just do your diligent research and you will find something !! I absolutely love my venue!

We had to think outside of the parameters we originally set. We ended up with a venue that works better than some of the others we were looking at and for a much better price. Maybe if you look into different options outside of typical venues you could find something that works for you.

Hmm... with such a large group, a hotel or restaurant brunch for 200 guests (and you said that's a minimum) might run you $8K-$10K for brunch, dinner would be even more (at $40-$50 per person which wouldn't include drinks). For a cool venue, you can try museums, zoos or aquariums because they'll often include the tables, chairs, linens, etc., but ONLY if you don't need to use their catering recommendations because you'll need to go CHEAP on the food--like a restaurant (Mexican, BBQ, Italian) for $15-$20 per person (not including drinks). If that's still too expensive, you could rent a hall or community center but if they don't have the chairs/tables/linens, you'll pay a fortune for rentals and those venues will need a lot of decor to spruce up a plain space!

Can you get married at a church or temple and then rent their hall? Again, not fancy for the reception but cheap and hopefully will include chairs & tables at least. Then you'll have money for decor and focus on the $15-$20 catering option.
