Final Vendor Payments: Day of or Earlier?

Hannah, on July 15, 2019 at 2:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hey everyone, I was curious what people are doing as far as final vendor payments. Are you waiting for the day of the event or a few days before?

Our wedding is this Saturday, and I'm trying to figure out if it's better to pay the DJ and photographer now or day of? The contracts say final payment is due by the end of the night of the wedding. I'm just wondering if I want that hassle.

What have you all done or are planning to do?

Mine all say due the day of. I'll probably assign someone, like my parents, to be in charge of the money and making sure each vendor gets what they're owed.

Mine are all due before the wedding, so I will be paying them on the vendor specified due date. If I were you, I probably would pay the day before so I don't have to worry about it the day of my wedding.

Date twins! We paid everyone already, I don't want to deal with money the day of.

We paid everything in full before the wedding. I didn’t want to deal with anything else that day. I already had hand written thank oh cards for every vendor with their tip that I need to remember and I forgot a few of those and had to mail them.

I’m going to pay the H&MU (and possibly the photographer) the day of. The rest will be paid before & the photographer might be. I would rather pay in person or via electronic than mail a check & the photographer doesn’t have Venmo.

All of our payments will be made by a couple weeks before the wedding. The last thing I want to worry about in the days leading up to the wedding is money.

Most of our contracts have either a payment plan that specifies when all payments are due, or emphasize payment is due the week before the wedding. Personally, I would go ahead and get all the payment out of the way so you can have a stress-free day!

After paying the deposits, we've paid towards our balances every few weeks. The only vendor that has a schedule is our photographer.

As of today we have $150 left on our cake, $250 on out flowers, $200 on our rentals, and $250 on our photographer. That way when the wedding day comes we're paying smaller amounts and not thousands at once.

I am paying most everything before the wedding, so that the only thing our DOC has to get out the day of are tip envelopes.

So our venue charges us a fee for using a charge card. So the venue will have to be all by check. Most of our vendors are due the week of the wedding. We plan to put the ones of our choosing onto charge cards who don't charge a fee, but that will more than likely be done before the week of, simply because everything else bought for the wedding will be done. We'll pay them off immediately after the wedding then.

Our videographer and venue required the final payment 30 days before the wedding while our DJ and photographer were 2 weeks before. It was really nice to not have to worry about making payments on the day of!
