Filipino Wedding: Primary & Secondary Sponsors

This is like the third question of this nature that I've seen, asking about Filipino weddings. I don't even know what a primary and secondary sponsor does. For my information, can somebody clarify?

This is usually seen in the large Catholic Filipino weddings. The sponsors are usually older relatives or close family friends, similar to the concept of godparents (but just for the wedding). I've even heard people refer to them as godparents to try and avoid confusion. They help pay for the wedding by contributing for certain aspects & they get a place of honor at the wedding. Usually they get to walk in the processional and sit in the front reserved rows. We're skipping it since my FH isn't Catholic & his family doesn't observe the tradition.

I actually didn't know that you ask the sponsors- I was under the impression that they offer. So this is new to me. I'd be generally interested in knowing how that works as well.

I wrote cards out to all my
sponsors! I’ve seen other people write cards and gifts. I only have 3 sets of each, so 6 pairs total. Since you have more I don’t know if you want to get a gift for each. If you do I’ve seen some simple things such as a candle, a fake flower plant, a nice statue. Things you can find at home goods. Hope this helps!
