Fighting a lot before wedding

Megan Thompson, on July 16, 2021 at 12:25 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 16
So long story short my fiance and I have been fighting ALLOT this week and the past 2wks. And it seems like the closer we get to the wedding the more often we're arguing. He has an attitude constantly because he's stressed about how much money we're spending and I've been a little overwhelmed trying to finish everything up before the wedding next Saturday. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and might have advice. It sucks so bad because it's driving all of the joy and excitement about the day right out of me and I don't want that to happen.

Hi ! I did experienced that as well... We were just tired and stressed out. A lot of things to plan, our guests required a lot of attention, we were doing everything to organise their arrivals and satisfy them - and we were forgetting each other... Just try to spend some quality time together, talk honestly and enjoy the moment...

Thank you so much. Even just knowing we're not alone in this eases my mind a bit. It doesn't feel right to be. Like this should be a more exciting and happy time. But we are both stressed and tired so yeah we just need to try and focus on being better about it.

My husband and I did not experience that, I think it actually made us closer. You both probably just need quality time and a day to relax where there is no wedding planning involved if possible.

You surely are not alone ! I know we always imagine this whole period as a celebration of love ;-) - I think it could be, if we could really just think about each other and not the whole stress around the organisation, etc. Try some "time out" each day just to breathe.

YUP. Same. We had a “maybe we shouldn’t get married” blow out the week of. 😳 Try to get out for evening walks, hug more, get enough sleep and hang in there.

I Definitely need to work on sleeping more. I've been losing sleep over worrying about every little detail and I'm sure that's not helping. I also think it might a good idea to get away from the house and do something that isn't wedding related just to relax. Thanks for your input it helps.

We're not married yet, but every time we both have a ton going on we get very short with each other until one of us catches it and brings it up so we both snap out of it. Definitely take a day to just get back to basics and not focus on wedding planning.

If you guys know each others love languages and use those, I've always thought that times when both of us are off are the best time to try and sneak in little things that are in their main love language because it means so much.

You’re welcome! The stress is crazy. Walks (without talking about wedding) helped. Also just be the first to acknowledge the other person’s stress (“I totally understand your stress about the money. I’m stressed about it too.”).

For the details, don’t stress about getting them done because nobody notices. Skip programs, favors, guestbook. Just focus on table centerpieces and other larger decor items.
    Hang in there!!! ♥️

I think that sounds like a great idea. I would make it a point to speak zero things about the wedding and just enjoy each other’s company. Don’t sweat the small stuff and focus on the big picture leading up to the wedding.

Hey! YES! This is totally normal. everything is a whirl of emotions leading up to the big day and it is hard. I was married once before, and I called the whole thing off with 3 days to go because everyone was stressed and fighting. LOL I had a beautiful wedding anyway, on schedule. Try to take a deep breath and step away from the wedding a little bit, and just go talk about anything else together Smiley smile IT'll help.
