Fiancé says we don’t need a Dj!

Jasmine, on March 24, 2020 at 9:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
So our wedding is outside during the ceremony. He thinks we can get his friend to play ceremony music and rent out a speaker. He also thinks we don’t need a mic for the officiant or for people to hear our vows. We can just speak loud 😳

We are doing a beach wedding but no guests, just our adult kids and young kid. I still going to use our harman kardon speaker for our music. DH also think we don’t necessarily need music, but music is my life, basta!

Have you looked up how much it’d cost for a DJ in your area? A MAJOR pro I’ve heard is they keep the wedding running smoothly. Honestly by the time you buy a speaker it wouldn’t be much more for a DJ. Ours was $950 for the ceremony and reception!

I did a lot were 1200 and up. But maybe I can find someone on the lower end. I am getting quotes from others now that are cheaper. But he has always thought DJs were a waste of money.

I do think you would need a mic aha but dj for a ceremony isn’t necessary either unless the speaker will cost the same because I was gonna do that until I found that renting equipment was almost the same in cost as my dj

I think you should absolutely get at least mic and speakers set up. My maid of honor had a mic and didn’t hold it up close enough to her face when saying her speech, and WE (the couple who was right next to her) could barely hear her.

Honestly, if you want people to dance and have a fun party vibe, you need a DJ. It’s not just about playing music. A good DJ reads the audience, mixes it up, adjusts volume when needed, etc.

Several couples here who went to a wedding or had a wedding with just a sound system have said few people danced. That would be horribly disappointing!

I think you should at least have the mic if you’re not going to get a DJ. And tbh making a playlist and playing music from someone’s phone doesn’t sound all bad as long as there are no ads that play lol

A DJ isn't just providing music. They are emceeing the party, introducing the BP and the new couple, helping guide the party to start and to close.

Unless you have a friend who is skilled in that area, you're going to want a DJ.

Music is Life i couldn't see a wedding without music!. Vows are special its the best part of the ceremony next to the kiss! Why wouldn't you have a MIC. even if you dont do DJ you need a MIC and a friend to be MC announce you and the wedding party. open floor for dancing, announce dinner etc.

How many people are you having at the ceremony? I agree with people about the DJ being more than just music but if you're not doing the DJ at least get a mic if you're having a lot of people. I feel like it would be really irritating if your guest couldn't hear your vows. Good luck!

There are about 40-45 guests, my thing is that I like DJs they get the party going and get things lively. My FH hasn’t been to many parties or weddings. He thinks receptions are a waste but he knows I’ll regret it if I don’t have one. So we having one. I greatly appreciate it, however it’s like the man doesn’t know anything about throwing a good party lol. It like planning a party with my dad lmbo. They are both the cheapest men I ever met lol (in a good but kinda embarrassing way)
