Fiance doesn't like the idea of beaches??

Samantha, on May 28, 2016 at 11:06 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 38

So I'm not getting married for a few years for personal reasons, but my fiancé does not want to have our honeymoon anywhere tropical or at a beach... I'm not sure what kind of ideas are available that aren't exactly tropical. I'd love some help to figure this out!

Are you in the us? There are plenty of cities and states that are not beachy with things to do. What are you looking to do on your honeymoon?

Mountain cabin. Forest lodge. Desert oasis. Amazon rainforest. Ohio.

Heck, you can set up a tent in your backyard and sleep there for a week and call it your honeymoon if you want.

    We're going to Alaska!!

We live in FL so we wanted something non-beachy too.

I always love mountain vacations - Denver, Asheville, Gatlinburg... Or there's always Vegas!!

Pretty much anywhere if you do non-beachy things.. a cruise, Europe, Alaska, a trip to the mountains.

There are endless possibilities of travel that do not include lazing around on a beach.

There's a place outside Asheville called little switzerland. It's where I stayed before he proposed. It's gorgeous there.

FH and I are dealing with this. He is very pale and doesn't like beach vacations. I, on the other hand, love spending hours on end at the beach. Our compromise? Cruise. I get to lay out and swim in the pools while he's in reliable shade, or at the casino, or drinking, or seeing a show. At each port, we'll do excursions (non-beachy things like zip lines and the like) and I'll take a minute to stick my toes in the sand. I get the tropical and he avoids feeling trapped at the beach.

I guess I should've mentioned that I love the beach, but a cruise sounds like the way to go!

We aren't doing the beach thing either! Glamping honeymoon in Canada... So many options whether you want a Glamping all inclusive resort or just Glamping tent and you figure out the rest you can find either through out many national parks in the Us! Ours is in glacier national park!

You're like 4 years away. He may change his mind. I wouldn't even think about this now.

I was planning for a Disneyland or Seattle honeymoon before some family and friends ganged up and sent us somewhere tropical. I loved my honeymoon, but I got a sunburn and heat stroke and I can totally understand not wanting to deal with that.

Go to Florence, Italy! Incredibly romantic without being tropical Smiley laugh or Napa Valley in California!

We got married in Sarasota (not on the beach), so we honeymooned in the mountains of NC.

Well, I'm worrying about this now because we want to save as much money for our wedding and honeymoon as possible. So we're trying to think of ideas now

You could do a national park honeymoon if you're the outdoorsy type. Plenty to do, like hiking, fishing, white-water rafting, tubing down a lazy river. Acadia in Maine is beautiful in September and it may be warm enough still to swim in the beaches for you (though there's really no sand). Yellowstone, Yosemite, or the Grand Tetons are nice too.
