Fiancé and i are at odds over wedding cake

CountryBride, on November 2, 2020 at 10:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 15
I love the idea of a tiered wedding cake it’s so classy and pretty,

My fiancé likes the idea of having a cake we can cut into on top of a cupcake tower that will be filled with cupcakes of different flavors I’m thinking 7-8 for a 130 guest wedding
As a guest what do you prefer?

I would prefer the cake. But, full disclosure, I am such a sucker for a wedding cake.... so I may be biased LOL

I would prefer cake. Cupcakes are a little messy at a wedding.

I on the other hand prefer cupcakes over cakes any day of the week. But I’m also not a fan of “wedding cake” flavor. So I’m biased.

Could you do 2 tiers of cake and 2 of cupcakes? I prefer a slice of cake personally.

I always prefer regular cake slices. I am not a cupcake fan because they are so impossible to eat cleanly without making a huge mess (frosting on your face, crumbs everywhere).

Also, some people think that cake and cupcakes are wildly different in flavor, texture, ingredients, etc. They are the same thing with different presentations.

With COVID, I recommend doing cupcakes.

Can you do both? A smaller cake as well as cupcakes?

Cupcakes since they're individually portioned already and safer for guests Smiley smile I would have preferred regular cake though if it wasn't for Covid. Perhaps a small cake for you and the FH to cut.

As a bride I personally prefer the wedding cake because I love the look of it but I think as a guest I would prefer a cupcake but in the end I really don’t think It matters because having any kind of cake is nice in whatever form

We are actually doing a two tiered cake and cupcakes. Would that be an option for you? That way you get the look of the traditional wedding cake, but can still play with flavor options with the cupcakes.

I prefer cake. Wedding cakes are so beautiful and more elegant imo if your wedding is formal. I like the multi flavor options you can have with cupcakes but they’re also messier. Taste wise I think they’re the exact same so I wouldn’t have a preference based on that

If you want multiple flavors, a good baker can do that with a tiered cake easily.

Do both! Have a 2 tier cake and then cupcakes on a dessert bar. That way, you both win.
