Fh’s wedding gift

Stephanie, on August 27, 2021 at 8:16 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12
So I know a lot of people give traditional wedding gift to there FHs but I went totally off from that! I got him a “poster” featuring his favorite beer made as his gift! I’m sure most will frown upon it but I’m 100% he’s going to love it! So what are y’all getting your FH’s as gift that aren’t traditional?

I did a boudoir photo shoot & printed up a book for him. He’s a firefighter & has his dress blues that I wore for a couple of pics. I was able to get an ax too! I had other outfits I used too. I had to be super sneaky about the whole thing! He works 48 on than off 96- I was antsy for him to leave @ 8 so I can get showered, ready & make it to my appointment by 1030!
I asked him if we could get a room the night of the rehearsal dinner since we wouldn’t be alone until our wedding night. I was able to give him my gift before we left to the rehearsal dinner. I was so nervous since I’ve never done anything like that before! He absolutely loved it!

Haven’t really thought about it. We discussed gifts briefly and I think we will be skipping them. I was thinking about getting him a nice whiskey he can enjoy with his best man.

I don't think any gift should be frowned upon no matter the occasion. Although I got him the norm for our wedding day, for our anniversary, I got a poster made of him with his favorite beer as a character from his favorite cartoon, Futurama. He absolutely loved it and couldn't stop staring at it for awhile lol. I'm excited for you to see his expression.

My FH was a firefighter too! That’s awesome! I’m shy so I did my own shoot at home for his poster! I hope he likes it!

I know but someone people aren’t okay with sexy posters. Like I’m sure I will get back lash for his poster from some but I’m sure he’s going to love it!!! I can’t wait to see his face!

Yea but I still think a sexy poster is fine. People do boudoir shoots for gifts. All that matters is you know he's going to love it.

I got him a baseball with our wedding hashtag on it. Since I did not take his name, we portmanteaued our last names as our hashtag... and our friends often call us that as a couple.

So, now we've got a keepsake baseball with our smashed up names!

I'm planning on getting him engraved cufflinks with my handwriting, I found a custom label on Etsy for his favorite whiskey so I'm going to get that with our wedding date on it and put it on a bottle of whiskey. Then as just a funny gift (cause I wouldn't be me without a joke gift) I'm getting him a pair of boxer brief's for the wedding day with my face printed on it !

HI ! I like your idea ! I actually decided to order a book from lovebookonline, it's like a comic book about our couple... Not a traditional thing in France, so that's fine :-D

I can't imagine why anyone would frown on a personal gift between you and your future spouse. How would they even know about it to have an opinion? I guess I am curious how nosy all your friends and family are.

I don't actually know what a "traditional" gift would be in this context. My husband and I didn't exchange wedding gifts besides rings, but we aren't really into gifts that much, so clearly this whole trend has passed me by.

I think your poster idea is SUPER cute and personal! Don't let anyone tell you differently! I'm planning on getting my FH a set of custom cuff links for his suit, and then a custom made pin for the inside of his suit jacket, with his Father's picture in it. His Dad passed away when he was a teenager, and he's been really struggling with the fact that his Dad won't (physically) be there that day, so I thought it might be a nice gesture. When pinned into the inside of his suit jacket, it'll rest right over his heart.
