fh and i can't agree on our wedding party

Jena, on May 19, 2020 at 8:39 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 5
So, my fh has a ton of childhood friends that he is still very close with at the age of 30. Almost all of them will be in our wedding (about 6 of them), however, one if his friends I really don't like. On several occasions he's been rude and disrespectful to me and my FH has noticed it. He even talked to him about it. To make things worse, he's said some problematic things that have really bothered me. It's gotten so bad that I've insisted that this friend isn't in the wedding party, but my fiance insist that he has to be in the wedding, not because he means that much to him, but so that he doesn't piss him off or offend him.

Someone help me! I don't know what to do. I genuinely DO NOT want this man in my wedding photos.

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way! I would tell your FH you feel disrespected that he's choosing a "friend" over your wishes, especially since this "friend" has been rude to you and your FH has noticed it.

Can you guys compromise? Make this guy an usher or something so that he's still involved? Your FH saying he's only including him so he doesn't get pissed off is NOT a good enough reason to include him in the wedding party. A wedding party should be a group of people who support you both as individuals and a couple and it sounds like this guy is not supportive of you and your FH knows that. Good luck! I hope it works out!

This is tough, because removing him from the wedding party *will* create problems, but if this guy is that much of a pain to begin with... why does your FH still want to be friends with him?

I think the big issue here is that this person is rude to you, has said many things to make you uncomfortable... and hasn't apologized or changed his behavior. I think that says more about his friendship with your FH than your FH wants to think about. It says he doesn't respect his choices or his *future wife*.

You and your FH need to sit down and you need to be clear how hurtful this man is to you.

I agree with Rebecca. Unfortunately, my fiancé is the same. He'll ask someone to be apart of the wedding just to not hurt their feelings - which I don't agree with at all. It's our wedding, not anybody else's. I don't think you necessarily need to "approve" of who he wants by his side. However, it is ridiculous that he'd want someone who's disrespected his fiancé on multiple occasions, apart of your wedding day. I would talk to him and explain to him that it makes no sense at all to have someone who's disrespected you and your relationship a part of your wedding day.

Yikes! Sounds like your FH has some soul searching to do when it comes to selecting his inner circle, but isn't ready to go down that road. I would ask him how he would feel if the shoe was on the other foot? And what is it going to take for him to see that this disrespect is actually toxic for the relationship and can drive a wedge between you guys if not resolved? You guys should both be protecting your relationship from anyone or anything toxic. Sounds like this "friend" will be an issue either way though. I hope you get this resolved in your favor.

Sry I feel bad for you . But your FH needs to put you first if you feel disrespected and have been disrespected by this guy why would he be in your wedding that's not fair to you. No drama at the wedding.
