Feeling heartbroken....

Jen, on May 20, 2017 at 2:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

I arrived at my parents house this evening, 100 miles from where I live, but we're getting married in my parents beautiful back yard a week from Sunday. My mom picked up my dress from the bridal salon a couple of days ago after a few adjustments were made at my final fitting. In my opinion the seamstress ruined my dress! I am so upset! She has hacked off the bottom of my dress very unevenly in places, didn't take the time to move up the appliques on the front of the dress, she cut through them! And the darts she added to the back that she said wouldn't even be noticed, are hideous! This was my absolute dream dress and I'm so upset I feel sick!!! My mom doesn't even know yet, I couldn't bring myself to go wake her up over this. Sorry for the rant, just so disappointed.

I am so. So. So. Sorry. I would ask about it, escalate it to management, ect. That's not really what you paid for....

I doubt anything can be done at this point, but yes, we'll be making a call in the morning. $1200 dress and $375 alterations and I don't even want to wear it now.

Put the gown on. Take photos of yourself wearing it. Whatever it is, it's too late to change it, but unless we see in you in the altered gown, we can't give you advice on how to proceed after the wedding. The photos you posted aren't giving us a clear picture of what you're dealing with.

This was done by the seamstress with Alfred Angelo, she does both the Tulsa and Oklahoma City stores.

The crazy thing is that the hem did not look like this on May 11th at my fitting, but it needed to be shortened a little more. And the illusion material on the back was bunching up a little so she said the darts would fix it perfectly. I will put it on in the morning, this was on the 11th.

Oh I'm so sorry. I agree with Rachel, take a picture wearing it so we can get a better idea.

Picture with it on? I am so sorry Smiley sad I'd raise hell about it especially so close to the wedding. I hope you get a refund or something.

Jen, I'm so sorry. I'd definitely escalate the matter to management in your shoes. That's a piss poor job. She put the stress in seamstress.

Holy cow, I love everything about your wedding gown. Fantastic choice.

Okay, you haven't posted a real time pic, but I'll tell you, with every ounce of honesty I have (and if the gown is a disaster, I don't post on the thread) that I think you look absolutely amazing in your gown, as pictured. You selected a gorgeous silhouette, and everything about it screams bridal. I love the bodice, the neckline, and the skirt. I can only imagine how radiant you will be with pro hair, make-up, a headpiece, and a bouquet.

Unless this gown, a perfect choice, has been butchered, I can't see what you're worried about.

Rachel is right. Thank you for posting a picture of the gown so we know what it looks like, I know how upsetting it can be to expect a certain level especially when paying a professional and receive sub par work. But the hem is not likely to be noticed by anyone once you put the dress on, your smile on the picture shows how much joy you feel in that dress. You're dissapointed, and it is understandable, but don't let that dampen your joy. Go ahead and call and let them know what issues you have, but when you wear that dress remember how beautiful you are and how that dress makes you feel, you won't even notice those little issues.

I'm so sorry. I hope that you can resolve this. You look beautiful in the gown. However, I can see from your up close pictures what a hatchet job she did on your dress. I'm sure it would bother you after spending all of that money. I know I would be outraged. Alfred Angelo is a big well known company. I hope that they make this right for you.

You look beautiful in that dress and I totally understand your disappointment. Make a couple of phone calls in the morning and get ahold of a manager. If they won't do anything, don't hold back on the anger or the tears.

That is a beautiful dress and it looks amazing on you and I am outraged on your behalf!!!! That seamstress was either being lazy or is incompetent, but either way definitely escalate to management. You absolutely deserve at minimum a refund on the alterations, though honestly I would push for a refund on the whole dress.
