Feeling discouraged my wedding is too far away

CountryBride, on November 15, 2020 at 10:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

My wedding is April 23rd **** days away I feel like it's so far away. With 8 kids I thought the time would fly by and it seems like it's taking forever. We are doing almost everything DIY as far as flowers and décor goes when should I start the projects? I am getting excited but it feels too far away has anyone planned a wedding 18 months away

    That’s about average. I got engaged July 2019 & we’re getting married on 4/3/21.

I got engaged in December 2018, and married Nov 2020. I also did everything DIY. I started ASAP. Even starting everything in 2019 I still had some stuff to do right before the wedding. If you have room in your house to store everything you make I say go for it!

We had 20 months between our engagement and our wedding. We hit the ground running. We started planning out our centerpieces and booked the majority of our vendors (thankfully we did this since we had no idea how long Covid was going to push back 2020 weddings). Now we are in a pretty good place and don't have to stress about the decor as we get closer.

I think it's totally fine to start the decor projects now! This way you have plenty of time to redo them if they don't meet your vision. You can also save money if you start now. You have time to wait for sales at Michaels and Joann's and other DIY stores. This way you can save money and time.

The struggle is real! It’s like perpetually the week before Christmas as a child 😂 We originally planned for 24 months between engagement and wedding, but thanks to the pandemic we will now have 36 months 😩 I’ve had all details planned for over a year and now it’s just waiting, waiting, waiting... I wish I had advice on how to make the time pass more quickly, but I haven’t found anything that works yet. If you know with 100% confidence exactly what you want for your decor, I don’t see any reason for you to not start now. The only potential caveat would be if you change your mind in the next 18 months and then have to purchase new things, start projects over, or settle for something you don’t like.

We got engaged in August 2018 and got married October 2020. Enjoy the process! The waiting sucks, but the anticipation is part of the fun.

I liked having a longer engagement because, overall, I didn't feel rushed and could plan at a comfortable pace. But I do wish I had started some of the DIY stuff earlier, so if you have a place to store everything, you can certainly get a jump on that.

The last few months will go by quicker than you think. Good luck!

Long engagements have their benefits. I loved being able to call my SO, "fiance."

We got engaged in Nov. 2018 and aren't getting married until June 2021, so over 2.5 years. Enjoy the process - being engaged is something that hopefully only happens once, so enjoy it!

My best piece of advice when your wedding is too far away, and your losing the excitement.

Plan your engagement shoot, because there is nothing more fun than buying some nice clothes, looking up photographers, and searching for fun places to take them.
I did this, and it really got me revved up for wedding planning.

Believe it or not that time will fly. I was literally talking to my fiancé today about how amazed I am at how the days have flown by. We too started at 557 days out and now we’re 198 days. So don’t be discouraged it will fly by so fast and for some reason being in quarantine for these past few months seemed to have made it faster. Also try to take your mind off of the wedding. I know when I was so focused on it 24/7 it felt like forever but the minute I focused on other things the months went by.
