Feeling conflicted about wedding dress!

Sonia, on November 13, 2020 at 10:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
I bought my wedding dress a few months back and I’m starting to feel like it’s not ~the~ dress! When I bought it, I decided I would get the dress taken in below the hips to make it more of an hourglass shape. But now I’m worried that it won’t work, since the dress will also need to be hemmed at least 6+ inches (I’m only 5 ft). I’m worried the part that flairs out will look odd once all the alterations are done and I’m having a hard time picturing it. Now I’m starting to feel like I should have picked a different dress altogether. Can I get people’s thoughts?Feeling conflicted about wedding dress! 1

That dress is gorgeous & very flattering on you! It shows off your curves in all the right places. I wouldn’t take it in below the hips - you want to be able to move around to dance & mingle.

You think so? I agree that it fits really well at the torso but I feel like the part where it goes straight down at the hips, rather than coming in is the worst part about it.

The fact that it goes straight down at the hips really helps to accentuate your small waist. I also think it looks great as is. Having it taken in under the hips will make it harder to move in.

Love the dress on you as is! I think it’ll be too tough to try and turn that into a mermaid style. If you must have a mermaid, I would suggest getting a new dress. 😔

I agree that the dress is beautiful!

However, if you had a different silhouette in mind, I'd either talk to a seamstress about your vision and options, or consider getting a new fit-and-flare, mermaid, or trumpet style gown.

That dress is gorgeous, you look gorgeous in it, and it photographs super well!

If you NEED a mermaid dress, ask the seamstress if that's possible, and if it isn't then yeah...new dress time :\
