February Weddings - Who is rescheduling?

Jocelyn, on January 6, 2021 at 1:35 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 14
We just sent out invitations on Monday and just found out about the huge spike here in Houston, TX. If we postpone, it will be my 3rd time to plan the wedding. Our ceremony is outside & reception inside. But, dinner is set to be served rather than a buffet. I cannot decide what to do!!

We have buffet too. Our wedding is in June , so we have time to decide. Has your venue reached out to you about any changes?

I'm from Dallas, Tx. We decided to keep our ceremony and we are postponing our reception to October! We're having a small after party after the ceremony with the bridal party + immediate family only. I'm feeling much better about it with the new strain of COVID etc. Hopefully it's enough caution to avoid anyone getting sick.

That’s actually what we decided to do too. From what I’ve heard - were supposed to start seeing vaccine results in June/Julyish. I’m hoping by the fall we’ll be able to set a new date!

We’re not rescheduling. We’re getting married in February at Chapel Dulcinea (which is outside) in response to the spike, we cut our guest list down from 35 (already small) to 15 (mini). The bulk of our guests will watch virtually through the Chapel’s livestream. We’d initially had our reception booked at The County Line on the Hill (the Vista Room, which is inside), a photo booth with Oh Happy Day, and a vintage car with 4 Leaf Limo. We cancelled everything related to the reception, and will now have champagne and cake at the Chapel’s Diamond Pavilion. We don’t want to risk it. We can always have a major to-do later, and be safe now.

Here's to hoping!! I'm so sorry you had to do this 3 times. This is my 1st (and hopefully last) time rescheduling. Either way, our weddings will be beautiful and we WILL get married!! Smiley heart

Any reasoning behind picking June or just hoping things will be more settled down at that time? We just decided to postpone too & cant decide if we should pick a new date

I just rescheduled from February 28th to September 16th. We didn’t want to cut down our guest list and we already live together so we aren’t in a hurry. Hoping the vaccine will be in full swing by then!

My wedding is scheduled for February 25 in Houston and I haven't had to move my date. My venue actually sent an email saying weddings were still happening with 200 guests. I'm not having a big wedding, we went from 120 down to 75 people to be safe. It's all indoors and we're having safety measures throughout; thermometers, masks and hand sanitizer. My personal opinion is unless we all move our wedding to 2022 or 2023 we will always have the threat of covid looming and someone possibly getting sick so my fiance and I decided, nope, we're having this wedding and we'll be grateful for all who attend. I wish all brides the best and I respect all of your decision to make the best of one of the worst times in the history of wedding planning. Do what makes sense for you and makes your heart happy 😊

I'm in Dallas and my wedding is Feb. 6 (officially less than a month away, send prayers lol). I already postponed from Nov. 14 and my new contract said no further postponing allowed. It was already tough enough for me to get my venue to let us move in the first place. I can't help but get disappointed by the numerous declined RSVP's I'm getting this week. But I'm stuck and just have to go through with it or we forfeit all of the money we've paid (our venue and catering is NOT cheap). My guest count was originally 300-350. After postponing, we dropped to 200-250. I sent out about 200 invitations and only 125 or so will attend. Worst part is one of my bridesmaids just dropped and 3 of my fiance's groomsmen dropped out within the last 2 weeks.Too many things have gone wrong during this planning process (like my bridal store ordering my dress two sizes too small and only 3 people coming to my bach party in Mexico due to passport renewal delays). At this point, I'm just venting to you guys (sorry lol). I'm just ready to be married and be DONE with this chapter y'all!!!

We are keeping our February date. It’s an outdoor wedding and I already kept a pretty small guest list before hand. We know not everyone will be able to come, but we are moving forward. We have plenty of room to social distance. We are doing a buffet style, but are doing it in sections. It’s been extra planning, but I think it will work out.

OMG Nickie! I can’t believe all these happening to you. I’m so sorry. When I read the bridesmaid and groomsmen dropping out 2 weeks before, my heart started pounding, I can’t imagine that happening to me. This is so crazy. I have already postponed twice last year- this time it’s happening in May. Like you said, I’m ready to be done with this and move forward with my life.
