February wedding with no reception?

brianna, on November 7, 2019 at 10:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
So I am getting married in February and I am having a ceremony no matter what because it's already booked but I'm pretty sure we are gonna get snow and I don't have a big house to hold a reception and i also can't afford a reception at a hall right now with me being in med school. Has anyone not have a reception?

I don't have 1000 to spend. Paying for med school and I have 3 kids and bills to pay to live.

It’s considered rude to invite people to a ceremony and not host them in any way afterwards. If your wedding isn’t during a meal time you can just have cake and punch afterwards with everyone.

Do what makes you happy, it might be rude for some but your close ones will understand. If you can’t have everything doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy what you can have

It's considered extremely rude to invite people to a ceremony but not provide some refreshment after. These people are getting up, dressed, and trekking over for your event. At least pass out donuts and coffee or something.

I would seriously reconsider this. A reception is needed to thank guests for attending your wedding. At the very least have a cake and punch reception at a non-meal time

You can’t invite people to a wedding and expect them to come (and give you gifts, which they will) and not feed them. You can just do a very casual cake and punch at a restaurant!

If you're inviting people to the ceremony, you need to host those people - even if it's a cake and punch, or sandwich platters from costco for an hour after just to mingle and thank everyone.

If you're not inviting anyone, then no you dont' need to host anything.
