February wedding.. oooo the weather!!!

Heather, on August 5, 2010 at 4:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

So we decided on our date bases on the fact that our venue normally doesn't cater to a wedding of my size. Normally only 200 guest and up. We only have about 120-140. So they agreed to let us us the facility as long as we get married in the "off" season. Doesn't matter much to me it works out for us day after our anniversary anyway Smiley smile My concern is the weather. I am in Michigan and I am sure there will be snow if not then just wet and nasty out. Anyone have any ideas or tips to dealing with the weather. Worried about my dress, how to deal with pictures and such. Anyone have a winter wedding? How did you make the best of it??

I live in Seattle, WA and is having a Feb wedding. I know that it might rain or snow in Everett, WA on my wedding day. So I will be wearing my rain boots and underella for rain. BUT I will change into my dress on naval base where I am getting married and it is ceremony/reception venue. So I will just have to get out of my dress after the wedding before I go outside. Plus we will be racing to airport for cruise next day. You should have it as ceremony/reception venue. If have kids, should offer hot chocolate with marshallows at reception. I can't spell lol. My wedding won't be like winter theme but more like romantic/classy feel.

Ay ay.... winter wedding here... Smiley smile

my family doesn't like it one bit... but they will live... when the winter comes...we don't hibernate...your wedding would be fine and ppl would deal with the winter as they usually do...you can get a nice faux fur shawl/coat.... and you could take a few pictures outside... if you get shawls for your girls... and the doods wear their jackets...you can wear boots under your dress..

and well...do like FH and I.. pray for good weather that day... snow on the ground is fine.. I just dont want a snow storm..

Rain or snow will make your wedding photos uncommon. I have some best wedding photos taken in rain:

I've officiated at over 1,000 weddings and only about a dozen had rain to the point of having to move indoors.

David is right -- clouds make for interesting photos -- just watch out for lightning.

I love winter weddings they are beautiful.. and I bet snow or sunshine people will come to your big day and it will be everything you dreamed of. They are cold yes but winter is winter! No matter if you have a wedding or not people are still going to have to face the cold.

Yeah My family FREAKED when I told them the date. My mom actually said" I don't want you to be disappointed when no one shows up". They are better about it now but now I am worrying lol. I will be happy if it snows for the pics. I am dreading that half melted gray slush look though. Thank you for the pics ideas though I think it will be really pretty If its a good snow!

Heck, Heather... 2/26 is almost MARCH! From Plymouth, MI here - so I understand your issue. The weather can really go either way in FEB in MI. Plus... from the map, you're not too far from a major interstate, so travel shouldn't be bad even if the snow does make an appearance.

My wedding is 2/26/2010 and I plan on getting in my dress at the church. We arent going to take picture outside but inside the church which is fine with me. After the church and pictures are done my plan is going straight to the Limi which will be right by the door. Not too worried about the weather. Don't worry about the weather everything will be perfect and plus winter wedding's are so beautiful. Im really hoping for a nice small snow fall on my day. So I can have a winter wonderland. lol

Ha well they got mad cause they have to drive like 45 min to an hour and with the snow they weren't to happy about it. Like I said they are ok with it now just when I first told them they hated the idea.

Oh okay it just kinda rude of how they have reacted at first. All of my guests are out of the state and they didn;t even complain, they cant wait for my wedding. 45 mins drive is NOTHING lol.
