February 2021 wedding in Florida

Maddy, on February 5, 2020 at 3:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with a wedding in Florida in February? Preferably near the beach like Destin.

If you're concerned about weather, it shouldn't be a big deal. The Gulf might be a little too cold for swimming, but the air should be fine and rain chances are lower in winter. February could also be good timing for sunset since it should be around 5PM or 6PM rather than closer to 8PM like you'd find in summer. I'm doing January 2021 in Orlando. If you wanted specific venues or vendors in Destin I can't help, but that was my general two cents on Florida (lived there 22 years).

I guess I’m concerned about the weather. I don’t want to be cold! I live in Louisiana and the weather is hit or miss and I know it’s the same in Florida but I wanted to know if the weather is usually good in feb

Truthfully, it could be hot one day could be cold the next but I will say this. Florida cold is nothing like cold in other states. If you are having a daytime wedding. Then you might be looking at the 50s. Worst case scenario. Although not as humid Florida can get hot and humid. So if you are doing an outdoor wedding you would much rather the cold in, Florida. I truly cannot say our weather is fully consistent. But for the past few days or a couple weeks of February and the end of January. For us. It's actually nice weather, but it can get a little cold.

I don't think my second reply stuck (sorry if you could see it) but depends on what your definition of cold is. I live in Chicago now so I should be comfortable if it ends up being 55-65, but that might not be the case for my mostly Florida resident guests. It's also worth noting that you'll have more wind on the beach than inland.
Something I've seen on some of these forum posts are people renting space heaters for outdoor weddings (think what you'd see on a restaurant outdoor patio). It could be a good bet if you and/or most of your guests consider below 75 cold. I don't know how far out you'd have to reserve them (if your venue wouldn't offer it), but as Kristen said FL weather isn't predictable so even if you had as little as 3 days notice your forecast could still change lol. I'd imagine Louisiana weather is pretty similar to North Florida, especially if you're also close to the Gulf
