Favors or no favors

Bryanna, on August 9, 2021 at 2:33 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13

So I am not sure if we should do favors or not. My first original idea was to make cookies since I know wedding favors usually get thrown away. Now though I am wondering if I should get rid of them all together to save money and time. I am DIY ALOT for the wedding to save and that would be one thing off my stressful list of things to do. Do you think people will miss the favors? or not care at all?

Nowadays it's perfectly fine to skip favors! If it saves you time, money, and stress, then go ahead and do without them! As a guest, I've never gone out of my way to look for them, and I've never been upset that they weren't provided.

I agree with this! No one will really notice if you skip the favors. If you have your heart set on providing them, go for it! If you'd rather not, definitely skip them and save yourself the money.

Its fine to skip, I wouldn't miss them if I went to a wedding and they weren't provided. I'm providing jars of honey for mine. I've been thinking more about taffy apples since we are getting married on an apple orchard. I think honey would be easier though.

    Definitely ok to skip them!
As a guest, I prefer no favors at all. I know I probably won’t eat/use most favors and then I feel guilty about throwing them away later.

I am skipping the favors. From everything I’ve read unless it’s edible, most favors get thrown out so I’m not going to bother with spending money on them

Unless favors are edible, skip them and save your money. Many times even the edible favors are left behind.

We skipped them and nobody really even seemed to notice. They're definitely not necessary, though.

I am skipping for mine! Although I would love to share one idea from a wedding I recently attended. They had wine glasses of all shapes and sizes and designs that they collected and displayed on top of the bar as guests walked into the reception area. These glasses were tagged with a little piece of paper that said the bride & groom's name on them. The backs of the tags were blank. Guests walked in, chose a glass, wrote their name on the tag in sharpie, and then found their seats. At each table was a bottle of wine, so guests could pour wine into the glass chosen. At the end of the night, the guests could take home the glasses as a favor! I loved this idea because it was unique and it was something that people actually took home. Now, whenever I use that wine glass I will reminisce on their big day

We're sending the guests pictures of themselves from the day - they will double as favours and thank you cards.

We weren't planning on doing favors, but my dad made miniature bottles of hand sanitizers with our names on them.

That is an awesome idea to add to the thank you card!

I was originally planning to do favors at each seat because I thought it was expected and then learned it was something that I really could do without. We are planning a sparkler photo op and have purchased the long wedding sparklers. These will serve as favors that can be used at the reception. And we have plenty of kiddos in the family who can use any leftovers next Fourth of July!

I at first was going to forgoe them because they can be expensive as is and time consuming if you DIY. However, I get 1lb of free coffee a week at my job and I decided why not take advantage of that and use it as a wedding favor.
In my opinion if the food is good, the music and everything else is great then why waste money on a favor if you don't feel the need to have it. Do what you want and keep the stress low.

I'm skipping the favors. In place I'm doing a photobooth so that way they have something to take at the end. Most favors are forgotten at the end. I was recently MOH in a wedding at the end there were so many left over.
