Favors at Elopement Celebration?

Sarahann, on June 9, 2016 at 3:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

We are having a small private ceremony in one city and a celebration in the month following for friends and family. I intend to give out favors at the celebration.

What date goes on the favor? The wedding or the celebration?

Thank you!!

Hi Sarahann, welcome to WW! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters. You can do this on a desktop computer or a mobile browser (just not on the app) under My Settings and Profile and Privacy Settings.

If you want the favors to be personalized with a date, I would go with the date of the celebration. Personalized favors are to remember and commemorate the occasion, so your guests may not want the date of something they weren't invited to Smiley smile

Also - you can totally skip favors if you want to! No one will miss them Smiley smile In general I prefer edible favors because they appeal to a lot of people!

Is the city, where you'll get married, famous for any type of food that would work as a favor?

Don't put your date on the favors. Nobody wants a wine glass with your names and dates on it. Put a quote about love or something else, but don't personalize them like that. Would you want something with my name and wedding date on it? No.

I agree, don't use dates or name unless they are on a tag that can be removed.

What others have said, don't personalize the favors. People will leave them behind or throw them away when they get home. I have no use for something with other people's names on it unless it was my children's weddings!

I don't mind personalize favors but I definitely like practical gifts that can be used for more than just looking at.
