Favorite Wedding Memories - As a Guest

Marvela, on June 14, 2020 at 10:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

Hi all Smiley heart

What are some of your favorite wedding memories from other people's weddings - memories you have as a guest? We're trying to think of some ways to make sure our guests feel extra special and loved on our day.

Thanks!

Honestly, my favorite moments have always been about the couple. I go to weddings to celebrate them, so I'm not worried about feeling "special".

Super personalized ceremonies stick in my memory, special moments at the reception (choreographed dances, another couple we know had a swordfight against each other - unlike us, we fought our friends - silly moments with a bouquet toss, things like that).

If you want your guests to feel extra special and loved, I guess the best way to do that is to make sure the food is good.

I agree with pp - the last wedding I went to what stuck out most was the groom wrote and performed a song to the bride.

My favorite thing about weddings honestly is always the ceremony! I love when it’s personal and when the bride and groom write their own vows.

I agree about the ceremony being meaningful. For me, the next biggest thing is when everyone is dancing together and having a good time. I'm not a good dancer by any means, but I find it so fun and joyful when all the family and friends are out there together. Except for some slow dances, it's not even couples dancing -- it's just a big group having a great time together. (Clearly, for me, a DJ that can "read the room" and get everyone out on the dance floor is a high priority! Smiley winking )

I agree with others, two big things that I enjoy are really personalized ceremonies (not a fan of run of the mill scripted ceremonies with no personality to them) and a great dance floor vibe!

My favorite weddings have all been smaller ones where there is time to actually talk to the happy couple. They are who I am there for, after all, and if the wedding is too huge and crowded, it feels very impersonal.

My favorite part of every wedding is the ceremony itself! Also, getting a chance to speak with the couple at some point during the reception. It always means a lot to be able to congratulate them and thank them for inviting me to celebrate with them! That is one thing we made sure to do... greet every guest!

I was in a wedding in 2017, the bride's grandfather officiated and it was so special and meaningful. That was probably my favorite memory! I appreciate when couples do personalized things like ceremony programs, favors, personalized ceremonies, pre-ceremony cocktails, etc. for guest comfort.
