Father/Daughter Dance - Stepdad - country song

Jen, on June 29, 2012 at 12:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Ok so for all purposes my step dad is my father, I met him when I was 10 and even though him and my mom aren't married anymore he has chosen to still be a part of my life. He is giving me away and I want to have a Father/Daughter dance, but I'm having a hard time finding a good song. I'm getting married July 7th so I'm running out of time. HELP!

How about "He Didn't Have to Be" by Brad Paisley. Or "I Loved Her First" by Heartland.

I love "He Didn't have to be" but it's from a son's perspective. I loved her first reference being a baby

I used the Brad Paisley song and didn't really worry about every word in the song pertaining strictly to me. The overall meaning of the song was what I was looking for.

I used "He didn't have to be". It was perfect for my dad (stepdad). Doesn't matter that a guy sings it.

I really like "Never Alone" by Lady Antebellum and Jim Brickman. It's a little different.

We recently sang "Do I Make You Proud" for a Bride-Stepfather dance. It worked wonderfully. It's not the standard song you expect to hear....but it's a great song. The words are very sweet and emotional.

Our band wishes you every happiness and joy!

I think these are all great song choices. It sounds like for all intents and purposes, he's your dad, so I don't think that any song that is about fathers and daughters is bad. Of course, He Didn't Have to Be sounds like it could be about him.
