Whatever he wants. He should match the formality of the wedding but he doesn't have to wear the same tux as the groomsmen.

I had the same concern. We're putting our dad's in a lighter color tux and making their ties a little different... keeping with the dark purple of the groomsmen but with a design.. that way they're similar yet different. Plus the groomsmen will be in bowties and the dads won't be.

My colours are mainly pale blue and silver, and our accent colour is pale pink. My guys are wearing dark grey pants, white shirts, and pale blue ties. My dad will wear similar colours, but instead a pale pink tie.

I honestly didn't care at all what my dad wore, as log as he was comfortable, but he was incessant that I tell him what to wear. So the pink tie was our compromise. I also suggested silver or dark grey ties, but he's super down for the pink.

Personally don't match him to your groomsmen.... Maybe same tie color or navy like his wife. But you probably don't want him blending in with them.

Would it be okay for him to wear black tux? I really don't care what he wears as long as he's comfortable with it. I just didn't know what is usually done. I'll ask at the tux store what they recommend as well but I honestly don't care.

@courtney it's your day! As long as he's comfortable and the look goes with the theme/feel as to not have him stand out like a sore thumb then that's what matters I think the black tux idea is classic and nice

I told my dad whatever he wants. GMs are in basically the tux you posted with mint ties, my dad tried on a light grey suit but decided on a tuxedo in a darker grey with mint pocket square. He wanted to coordinate but not match

I agree with Celia, whatever he wants. Our dads both decided they'd like their suits to match the groomsmen. Which I probably would have preferred, to keep everything looking consistent. My brother might get the same suit, too.

FH and groomsmen will be in gray suits and my dad is wearing a black tux.

My mother requested we go traditional on this and have the FOB match the groomsmen. We will probably have FOG match as well. Makes things easy!

I let my dad decide. He decided to purchase the same suit as the wedding party and I had purchased him a tie to wear. It was in our wedding colors but it was different from what the groom and groomsmen were wearing.

Whatever he wants. My dad wore red but his tie was like different, his dad wore grey. Black suits. our colors were red and gold.

We gave both our dad's the option of wearing the same Tux that the GMs are wearing or a suite/tux they already have. They both said they want to just go with what the guys have so it worked out

My dad owns a tux so he'll wear that. He'll either rent his tie and vest or depending on what my mum wears he'll have a red tie which belonged to my grandpa

We have them in similar. Groomsmen and dads are all wearing the same suit. But groomsmen are wearing plum bowties & plum suspenders, while the dads are wearing silver vests & ties. Groom is wearing plum vest and bowtie. We wanted the groom & dads to stand out. Just subtle little things.

I told my dad and FIL to just wear a nice suit, but they for some reason thought that I meant they needed to rent a tux and insisted on it. They both ended up matching DH with the black tux, and champagne vest/tie. GM were in black tuxes with navy vests/ties to match my ladies.

My dad wants to wear the same tux as the rest of the guys, but he is going to wear a different color tie. He's super pumped about it!
