Father in Law - bride dance on the wedding? is it a crazy weird idea?

Jazzy, on December 3, 2015 at 7:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Is there anyone here who've done Father-in-law and bride dance and Mother-in-law and groom dance?

My parents are divorced and my dad lives in a different country and wont be coming to my wedding. I just thought about this and I don't know if this is a weird idea. Haven't discussed it with FH yet... but I'm considering.

Any suggestions?

PS.

being honest. I'm just stressing about no one is going to dance with me on my wedding on the suppose to be Father-daughter dance.. and it makes me depressed Smiley sad

Do you have a brother/grandpa/uncle/mom/aunt/authority figure you would like to share a dance with? It doesn't have to be your dad.

My in laws originally suggested a dance where I danced with my father in law while my husband danced with my mother in law. I thought it was literally the worst idea I had ever heard and absolutely refused. However, I had a dance with my dad and my husband had a dance with his mom and this was to be a third, his family only dance which I didn't want. Are you close with your father in law? Would it be comfortable for you?

Do you have a grandfather that you may want to dance with? I assume your FH will want to dance with his own mom still..

I would choose someone else mother, brother, grandfather. I am pretty sure all mothers dream of the day they dance with their son on their wedding day. Unless you planned to have you both dancing at the same time and he still had his with his mother.

Only my family moved to Canada. No grandpas. I have two younger brothers though (20's).

This is my FH's second marriage (and its my first).

I am okay with my FIL, but not super close.

My friend danced with her Mom on her wedding as she didn't want to dance with her Stepdad.

So I dont know if I'll just do that.

We're not doing any dances (FH doesn't dance), but I also briefly tossed around dancing with FFIL. I thought it would be really sweet. Haven't talked to FH about it, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to dance with his mom.

If you don't have anyone could you dance with your FIL, but still let your FH dance with his mother? Or you could dance with your own mother or a friend.

Do what makes you happy. If your close with your mom than dance with her. I danced with my mom on top of doing a father/daughter dance with both my dad and step dad! Thought I love both of my dads my dance with my mom was my favorite because of how close we are. And the guest loved it!!

I will be. I adore my FFIL, I also have a step father and a few uncles that will cut in, so maybe after the main dances we shall do that, then he can pass around my mother, step mother and his grandmothers...hmmm things to plan now..

If you are doing a lot of family dances be mindful of the length of songs. They might need to be cut so it doesn't get to drawn out for your guest.

FH will dance with my mom since his mom won't be able to make it.

    I think it's fine.

I think it's fine as long as you're both comfortable doing that. I danced with my sister.
