Family only wedding - not inviting friends

Ggreer14, on May 9, 2022 at 5:52 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 5
I really only want to invite my family to our wedding. As much as I’d love to invite everyone I know and love, we’re on a budget. Also I’m kind of a more family oriented person anyway. Has anyone else done this?

Do whatever makes you happy and fits your budget 😊 Some people will be upset, but they’ll get over it. We aren’t doing a family only wedding. However it’s only 50 people so it’s mostly family. And honestly some days I wish I had cut it down to just super close family because I’m very busy and planning for even fifty is a lot to deal with. 😂 if just family is what you and your FH want, then go for it! It will likely save a lot of money and time.

Honestly I think it's a great decision if it's right for you!

If you have friends who are like brothers/sisters, it will make them super upset but if you have strong feelings about doing a family only event, just go for it. Your wants come first, along your fiancé's.

However: while I think most friends will understand, some may not take it well and may put some distance in the relationship. If you're fine with that: OK and do what feels right for you.

But: what does your fiancé think? Does he want a family only or does he want friends there?

We cut our guest list from 100 to 14 when covid hit. It was just siblings, parents, and grandparents. I’m so glad we did it that way. We were able to spend a lot of time with the people closest to us and saved $7,000 in the process. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t change a thing.
