Family / in-law attire help

Samantha, on August 12, 2019 at 9:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34
K so I’m lost here....
what are you ladies doing for your family’s attire? Are you picking things out? Letting them do whatever? I have my mom, future MIL, and two future SILs as the rest are in the wedding or the men will be in suits/tux. Do I have them in a coordinating color? Or anything? I’ve never paid that close attention to it at weddings I’ve attended. Thank you!!!!!

If they are not in wedding party let them dress how they want.

Okay! That’s what I was thinking but they all keep asking me what they should wear so I didn’t know if I was supposed to decide or not! Thanks!

For those not in the wedding party they can wear what they want but if they ask you can try to coordinate family members. My family was great about everyone wanting to look good for family pictures.

The family need not coordinate with anything. They wear the same formality as the bride or one step less formal, so you let people know what your level is. They can pick anything they like and feel attractive in, like any guest, except for something that looks bridal in color, style and material..

My family consists entirely of adults who can dress themselves without my input. I don’t have the time to worry about anyone else’s attire.

I helped my mom pick out her dress, but my dad, and his parents, as well as our brothers are all wearing what they want. I want them to be comfortable.

My family kept asking me what colors, material, ect. I just told them what they’d wear to church is fine. They’ve got plenty of clothes to choose from. My mom had a freakout about her clothes though so I bought her a new dress. She wanted me to pick out her outfit. Not opening that can of worms!

I let our families (unless they were in the bridal party) wear whatever they wanted. My mother wanted me to go dress shopping with her but that was more because she wanted to look good (shes a breast cancer survivor and shes a little self conscious).
I'd just tell parents to dress as they feel comfortable for the occasion. If they want more input, nothing wrong with that. Just dont force it on them.

I went with my mom to pick out her dress. I'll be picking out my father's attire. My FMIL chose a color. No idea on what FFIL plans to wear.

Both of our families have the experience of the bride dictating what the families wear so they will not pick outfit without me. 🤷
It doesn't appear that most bride's do that anymore so honestly if you don't have to worry about it don't. If they're all adults they can likely dress themselves.

They can wear whatever they want. Both my mom and MIL wanted my opinion on their outfits which is fine. They wanted input on colour. If they hadn't of asked I wouldn't have even thought about what they were going to wear.

I’m allowing them to do whatever they want. I told them if they show up dressed like fools then they will be cropped from several photos.

They wear whatever they’d like. You can inform them of the wedding colors and maybe they’ll choose an out fit in your colors (or not). No need to add additional planning on your plate when it’s not necessary.

We're having a low key wedding and are letting our families choose their attire. We only asked guests to come in cocktail party attire, beyond that we're good.

I am letting them wear whatever they want. His father and my father and brothers will be wearing the same tie as the groomsmen though but they won't be as fancy.

My SILs and both of our brothers were in the bridal party so they wore bridal party attire. We didn't make any special requests for our parents, I just wanted them to find something they feel good in.

They wore what they wanted. The dad's wore matching suits (same as the wedding party and H) and we bought them silly socks (the guys all wore silly socks) and ties. My MIL wore a long navy dress, my mom wore a long teal dress, and my stepmom wore a long indigo dress. Our colors were "dusk" (like a dusty lavender, not a pastel) and the guys wore navy. My sister wore a long, black dress and my grandma wore a long royal blue dress. Everyone looked lovely.

I am having a small wedding (like less than 20 ppl) and I am picking out the family’s attire.
Well actually I’m picking out everyone’s attire.
Before anyone gets all upset (which shouldn’t matter as its not got anything to do with anyone but those in my wedding) everyone has asked me to pick out outfits for them so that I know and they know everyone will match and the pictures will look good!
I know the color scheme and I would like our families to match not only with each other and the wedding party but also with us!
