K so I’m lost here.... what are you ladies doing for your family’s attire? Are you picking things out? Letting them do whatever? I have my mom, future MIL, and two future SILs as the rest are in the wedding or the men will be in suits/tux. Do I have them in a coordinating color? Or anything? I’ve...

I’ve never paid that close attention to it at weddings I’ve attended. Thank you!!!!!

My mom wanted to wear Navy (my bridesmaid dresses color) BUT hers is more casual looking and has a matching cardigan and is a short dress. My dad is wearing a dark gray suit( All the guys are in light gray so I wanted him to coordinate without matching completely). he will also have a dark blue tie and vest to match my mom. FIL is wearing a black suit and MIL is wearing a purple tea length dress.

As you stated, you have never even noticed family attire at other weddings, I would let them choose on their own.

Tell them to wear whatever they are comfortable in - you should not be involved at all.

I just gave mine a color scheme to stick with and it seemed to work out fine! I just told them no busy patterns or vibrant colors (own preference so they didn’t stick out). My future SIL who isn’t in the wedding picked her own (with the help of my other future SIL who knew what to look for) I didn’t give her anything to narrow it down because we weren’t that concerned about her attire.

Most of my family is in the bridal party and I'm going to help my mom pick out a dress.

I am letting them pick their own outfits but told them the colors/theme of the wedding. I’m encouraging them to dress to theme but will not micromanage their attire, generally everyone was ok with that

I’m debating having my fiancé’s sister’s wear certain colors, I’m going to have our dads wear tuxes and have our moms wear a certain color too I think. My fiancé doesn’t have any brothers but his sister is getting married a month before us and I think her husband is going to be one of our groomsmen, but I may have my brother also wear a tux. Hope that makes sense, lol. I just want family pictures to coordinate. Our colors are light blue, blush, peach, and gray, so I will probably have those not in the wedding pick one of those colors (not blue because that is the color of the bridesmaids dresses). Hope that helps! haha

I'm having the same problem...all of mine and my FHs siblings are included in the wedding one way or another, so my parents (i'm a child of divorce, so 4 parents) and my FHs parents keep asking me what I want them to wear, and I honestly don't care. They have the color scheme, so as long as they're comfortable, I don't care what they wear (as long as they wear something xD) . They have to wear it almost all day, so of course my only concern is their comfort, but they still bring every outfit they (mostly the moms) find to make sure they're "wedding acceptable". Honestly, once they finally find something that they like and want to wear to the wedding, if they bring it to you and ask, I'd just say that you like it and hope they enjoy showing it off!

All i'm asking is that they look nice and try to coordinate with the colors if they plan to be in any photos.

It's all medieval! My bridesmaids (Ladies of the Court) are going to be in medieval dresses in gem tones. His groomsmen (Knights of the Court) are going to be in armory that's a little less decked out than his. Our Honor Guards (14 ) will be in tabards & swords. Everyone is encouraged to wear costumes. The pastor even volunteered to 'monk it up.'

I am going to let them wear whatever they want since they're not in the bridal party. If they show me or what not I will give them my opinion.

Excellent question! Our wedding is Renaissance/fantasy themed so everyone is encouraged to ware Renaissance ere attire or dress up as their favorite fantasy character. I know ours is a little off the beaten pat though. Typically, the MOB picks what she's going to ware, the MOG wares something that compliments that & any SILs stay in the same color area but may pick a bolder shade of that color. My Mom is a seamstress. Once she was doing alterations for a bridal party of 12 bridesmaids all in black. The MOB & MOG were both in black on bottom & white on top. It looked more like a funeral as all the groomsman & FOB & FOG were also in black. It's a good idea to give close family members or friends a list of colors that work or don't work but don't get too bent out of shape if they don't follow your guidelines. This is your day; enjoy it!
