False eyelashes??

Andrea, on January 28, 2013 at 10:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I have never worn them but I know some girls can definitely rock the look. I was hoping to get a glamorous look for the big day. Do any of you girls have experience with them? Any particular brand? This can go one of two ways lol!

I have worn them in the past and love them. I however did not put them on myself. The MAC counter will put them on if you purchase from them.

Also - many MUA for day of hair and makeup include them for free.

Also - another idea is eyelash extensions. I did this 3 times in my life. Sorta annoying to put on but they last about 3 weeks and looked amazing. I have done this a few times for big events and vacations.

LOVE them! However I can never get them on...I got them on for the first time this past Sunday...I'm not patient. SO - with that said my suggestion is if you're having your makeup done for your wedding have them do a trial run with them. If you're doing your makeup yourself I'd have a professional put them on for you and see if you like them and have them teach you how to put them on. I recommend going to Nordstrom, make an appointment with the MAC counter for a makeover and purchase some lashes from them - they are about $15 and they can put them on for you - bring pictures of what you are interested in and they will show you what lashes will give you that look. Also ask them how to take care of them because they are reusable.

THEN go to your drugstore or online and get some lashes that are cheaper than the MAC ones so that you can practice with putting on till you're comfortable - so you don't ruin the more expensive ones.

    To be continued....

The Makeup artist put fakes on me for my FSIL's wedding. I had SO MANY comments, and they weren't uncomfortable at all - Highly Recommeding!

Look up youtube videos for ideas/tips/tricks on and refresher courses... Lastly if you are not used to a lot of makeup make sure that when you have your trial AND if you go to the MAC counter that you take pictures... For weddings makeup artists usually put on more makeup for the photos because that is what is going to last... With that said have the makeup artist listen to what you want and take a picture with a good camera... THEN ask them what they would do and take a picture, (I'm guessing you don't wear too much makeup if you've never worn false eyelashes).

That way you can see what the flash picks up/hides and see the difference in your features.... it is far different than what you see in the mirror versus what the camera & the camera's flash picks up....

That's my advice... hope it helps?

I wear them from time to time, like others said having someone who knows how to put them on is alot easier. try practicing putting them on with a pair from the drugstore and you can use the same pair more than once. place them against your eye for length as you may need to trim the ends depending on your eye. trick is to put a thin layer of glue on the false lash line and let it dry about 30 seconds and then try to place them as close as possible of your natural lash line. white glue will dry clear but black glue will not, black glue gives the appearance of liner. i usually buy ardell 105 or 120 in cvs/duane reade. practice def makes perfect with this , dont get discouraged it can get very frustrating

Definitely wear them! I think they're so important for a wedding day where you'll have lots of pictures taken Smiley smile I wear them occasionally, but will have my MUA do it for the wedding.

I had no intentions on wearing them and didn't get the point, but the MUA put them on me this weekend just so I could try them, and I couldn't notice them at all and loved how it looked. I asked for some that were more natural, and it really wasn't like "WHOA fake eyelashes" but it made a noticeable difference in like, my side profile, and I think it made the whole look complete.

I don't know what brand she used though... Are you getting your makeup done professionally?

(you can see the eyelashes in the second pic and gave me the look I wanted)

@EdieKristen I LOVE it. They don't look fake at all and very natural. Do you know the brand? I have a friend who does makeup on the side so she is helping me out. She doesn't have any experience with fake eyelashes though. I will start playing with different brands. How long do they last?

@Latisha L haha something like that would happen to me! lol

I went with false aeyelashes for my wedding. I decided to use the individual lashes. Havig never put false eyelashes on, I did NUMEROUS practice runs on myslefy before my wedding. If you have patience and try in a bunch of times before your wedding you can totally do it. I think the false eyelashed really opened up my eyes and did not look fake (i think that was the benefit of doing separate as opposed to the one fake strip). I bought my lashes from Ulta. The were DuaLash - short balck. You can see pics of me on my wedding day here. http://happinessiscreating.com/my-wedding/

If you've never done fake lashes, I wouldn't recommend the DIY route for your wedding. They're very tricky. I went to a wedding where the ceremony was delayed 45 minutes because of a fake eyelash fiasco, true story.

I've done them myself a couple times, and to me, they feel a little heavy and I can't get them on just right. I had an MUA do it and it looked a lot cleaner, neat, and more natural.

So, yes to fake eyelashes - just have a real MUA do it.

Just don't use the really long ones! At one wedding, bride's long, long (obviously fake) lashes were waving in the breeze and looked like they were going to blow away!

If you DIY lashes, make sure you've played around with different lengths and thicknesses and practice, practice, practice! I wore mine for a couple of weeks prior to the wedding day (the courthouse). Wish I had remembered which ones I used.. I felt the ones at the family ceremony were too bushy ;P
Anyway.. you just have to find the right techniques and make sure you are very comfortable with them. I looked up youtube tutorials prior to trying them and used advice from the ladies here!
For brand, I love Adele (I believe that's the name, they are carried at Fred Meyer stores) and for the glue, best so far is by Revelon. For the lash lengths, start with something super subtle, maybe even just the individual lashes (which I've yet to try) and you can go thicker/longer from there until you're satisfied with how they look.I used tweezers when setting my lashes, it helps get them close the your lash line and can be used to help secure the ends down, which is probably the hardest part for me

I tried them for the first time when we got our engagement photos done. Absolutely loved them and so did DH. Got them put on again for the wedding and the worked out great. Held out from around 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. and probably longer if I hadn't peeled them off before bed.

Highly recommend them and also to have a MUA do them. I'm such a klutz I probably would have stabbed myself in the eye if I tried it.

I do not like a woman wearing http://www.biokur.pl/sztuczne-rzesy-c-192.html false eyelashes.
