Fall Wedding Menu

Jazzmen, on September 5, 2019 at 9:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 15
Hi, I am trying to figure out a menu for my October 2020 wedding that will be served buffet style. I have no idea what to serve and it is driving me crazy so I will appreciate the suggestions. Thanks!

We're doing a fairly simple buffet for our October wedding with rosemary rolls, smoked pork shoulder, coffee braised brisket, whipped potatoes, and green beans. We weren't aiming for a BBQ feel necessarily since our caterer is a local farm to table restaurant, but ended up loving those protein choices. I went to a November wedding last year that had a pizza/pasta buffet line, and that was also pretty good.

We are doing stations, which is like buffet. Here is our menu...

cocktail hour- pulled pork sliders on brioche buns, assorted cheeses, buffalo chicken dip with tortilla chips.

dinner- 2 salads ( caprese and wedge), two mac & cheeses ( 4 cheese and bbq- chicken bacon and bbq sauce drizzle), baked potatoes with all the toppings, pork loin, beef brisket and corn muffins.

dessert- cake to cut and cider donuts.

We are doing a buffet with a served/ plated salad:

Salad: Garden salad with 3 dressing options: ranch, french and raspberry vinaigrette

Buffet: Chicken picata, roast beef with gravy (beef gravy), garlic mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, green beans, and rolls.

Dessert: Cupcakes-red velvet, carrot cake, vanilla with blueberry filling, and chocolate. Along with 2 types of cookies. Then a small vanilla cake for cutting.

Cocktail hour to be determined, but also doing a late night snack as well.

People start eating the warm cozy holiday food around October so maybe you can theme it loosely around that. You could do a carved meat of your choice, mashed or au gratin potatoes, a hearty veg like green beans or carrots(whole not chunks) and your desserts could be pies. You could do fun fall themed cocktails too like cider or hot buttered rum.

We did a bison tenderloin carving station, served with horseradish, a bruschetta chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and maple syrup brussel sprouts on our buffet! It was a big hit, we had no leftovers. On the table was butter & focaccia bread, and a spring mix salad.

I will say our menu isn't really fall related besides maybe the "seasonal" vegetables. We are having salad with a lemon creamy dressing, pistachio crusted salmon, flank steak, baked pasta (much like baked ziti), whipped mashed, veggies. Cake and my mom's homemade assortment of italian cookies for dessert. We do have a soup option for our passed apps during cocktail hour, as well as mini grilled cheese, mini cheesesteak, crab cake, shrimp cocktail. We are doing a fall themed signature drink!

A lot depends on what your caterer will offer. My suggestion is to have some diversity in what you offer, but definitely make sure it's something you two want to eat!

Most popular meat choice is chicken - almost everyone will eat it. Second choice (here in TX anyway) is beef. Pork can be very similar to chicken, but if beef is too expensive where you live, it's at least different from chicken. Seafood can be really challenging to keep fresh, but especially if the reception is in a place where it's easy to get, that might be a good second choice, too.

For us, we're doing chicken and beef, with roasted potatoes, green beans, and a field greens salad.
