Fall wedding in September?

FutureMrsPicciONE, on December 4, 2016 at 9:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Hey all, so my original idea for a wedding was a beautiful rustic fall themed wedding. Well the venue we really wanted didn't have any fall dates available. So we decided to go with a September 16th wedding. We live in upstate New York and this is likely before there will be any leaf color change. What are your thoughts on having our rustic fall wedding on September 16th? Is it too early and out of season or is it close enough to fall to be able to pull it off?

I think you can still pull it off. Do you have a venue yet?

I live in upstate New York. You're right you probably won't have the fall leaves, but in the evening you'll have the autumn air.

Plus, by mid-September everyone I know is super excited for fall. It'll be great!!

I think you're fine. Ours was November and we loved having a fall wedding.

I think it will be fine, and I think you are better off with that date. Much less chance of serious snowstorm, which can wreck havoc with guests' travel.

Thank you all so much. I love fall. The scents, the colors, the tastes, everything. So we will be going with burnt orange, chocolate brown, burgundy and some accents of honey gold to pull everything together. The venue did have late fall dates but @Karen you are so right. I was terrified of a snow storm. In this area you just never know!! Glad to hear @MrsWalters success of something similar. Congratulations to all of you and thank you for your advice!!

Yes, beautiful date, the weather is always so nice! (I am in MA). There may not be fallen leaves but you can tie that in yourselves... best of both worlds.

I know in Tennesseee September is the same as August but being so much farther north, I'd think it would be much cooler weather.

I'm also in upstate NY, and everyone around me seems to think September is fall so I think you're good. New York has beautiful September weather!

I think you will be fine. By that time of year I'm thinking Fall, not summer.

What part of new York makes a big difference, but I think those colors and apples and such would be nice!

Date twin!!! We are doing a nude color palette for our wedding to accentuate the fall colors outside (getting married indoors at a vineyard). We love September and couldn't imagine our day without all those beautiful colors!

We're doing a fall wedding the day after yours. We live in Minnesota, so any later and we may not be able to do the ceremony outside. I think most people associate September with fall.

We are doing a fall wedding on 9/17 as well, in Massachusetts. Ask your venue what time of year the leaves usually change by them. It was important to me that the leaves still be green (since my color scheme would clash with the traditional fall colors), so I was sure to ask that at every venue I went to.

The weather in September is typically quite beautiful, so regardless of whether or not mother nature corresponds to the color scheme, I think you'll like it.
