Super October 2020

Fall brides, are you still planning as “usual”?

Michelle, on May 15, 2020 at 8:41 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
My date is 10/24/2020, and I’m like 90% done with planning. Everything else is on hold because I have no idea if I should order as if I have 150 guests because I have a feeling maybe it’ll be downsized to max 50 at a gathering in Ohio which I would be completely happy with if I don’t lose money.

I don’t know how many centerpieces to make, how many favors to order, how many chargers, invites, etc. Holding off on invites for sure so I don’t know what else to do.

I totally understand. We have a smaller wedding planned, 60 including the wedding party. We are on track for November 21st and everything is basically done. FH is still figuring out his final groomsman and he to send in his passport application, and I have to get my dress altered...but other than that we are good to go.

It’s very nerve racking with all the speculation surrounding the fall. I’m trying to block it out as best I can or the stress destroys me.

I’m in the same boat as you for 10/23/2020 wedding for about 160 planned but will probably be less since a lot are out of towners who might not feel comfortable traveling during this covid. Most all is planned except for favors, cake/desserts, and alcohol for the bar. I’ve been keeping occupied planning little details like decor and gifts for bridal party but holding off on the rest until July/August. Especially making big payments! I already sent out invitations and inserted a mini statement on my website FAQ at the very top addressing the covid concerns saying “We will be closely following CDC guidelines and if we need to make changes to ensure the health and safety of our guests, we will let everyone know hopefully by August. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.”

I’m 10/9/20 in NJ - definitely nervous , but still planning as usual! I got really lucky with amazing vendors, and they were all available and able to put a “soft hold” on 6/11/21 just in case. That is a worst case scenario, and I’m obviously hoping for our October wedding to still go on, but having a solid Plan B in place is definitely giving me peace of mind. It’s just so unfair that we are all being cheated out of this planning time which should be one of the most enjoyable times of our lives!

Do you think you will still be getting married that day? I’m wondering how my venue would adjust the contract because we signed that we would have 125 guests minimum...and I want to get married that day and rather not do a big wedding celebration, it’s like I don’t care as much anymore lol, I mainly just want our family there.

October bride here and I'm still planning as usual and plan on only having about 40 guests. My venue is still closed so I'm not sure if I'm even getting married there though. So my plan b will be my parents backyard. I also still need to find a cake/desserts, rent ceremony chairs, design and send out invites, get my dress altered, find outfits for the guys, choose the music/songs, decide on what food/alcohol to serve, and get a few more decor items and sinage. I'm waiting until the end of summer for any big purchases and if I hear from my venue or not.

Ohio is still 10...but things are opening up like crazy here so I’m sure in no time it’s be 50 if there isn’t a second wave. I think I would do it in one of my sisters’ backyards cuz they both have a huge yard lol and do something simple like cake, eat good food, and a traditional dance just because we can!

I'm September 26th and still have to do the tuxes, invites, and flowers. I'm also in NY so the fact that everything is still closed is not helping with my anxiety about getting everything done before then.

Try a site like generationtux or the black tux for your guys.
Invites can be done on Shutterfly or vistaprint.
As far as flowers go, I would just go through possible vendors on WeddingWire and have a Pinterest bird of ideas so you can meet with them ASAP once they open. Hope this helps!

We're 10/25, we're moving it to either Spring or Fall 2021. The unknown has been debilitating.
