Fall 2020 New York Brides

Kristen, on May 12, 2020 at 12:22 PM Posted in New York Planning 1 8

I'd love to connect with some fellow NY brides, I feel like we're a special breed due to the circumstances in our state. I'm supposed to be getting married September 19, 2020 in the Hudson Valley and we have not postponed yet, nor do we plan to if we can avoid it. We're going to make a final decision in early August based on current circumstances and if we can, we will move forward but with a smaller guest list. Is anyone else holding off on postponing?

I'm in New Jersey and right now we're holding off on postponing. Our date is October 10th and right now Murphy is saying that we could have possible dates of reopening stuff this week so I'm staying as hopeful as possible.

We are in WNY and our wedding is 10/23/20. We're holding out hope for now and haven't changed anything about our date so far, but we do have a back up plan in case it doesn't work out the way we want it to. I'm definitely pretty nervous about how the state is going to react to reopening, and now with Cuomo saying there's going to be a second wave in the fall, it's only going to scare people more. We're making an alternative, smaller guest list in case we can still have the wedding, but with fewer people. We're also holding off paying any of our vendors for the moment, and luckily none of them require monthly payments, that way we're not out of so much money if our wedding really can't happen. Hopefully the answer of what to do will be a bit clearer by summertime, but as of right now we're planning as if it's going to happen the way we want it to. I'm glad to see you posting on here because while other people have posted, it's unclear what state they're in, and NY is definitely stricter than other states so it's comforting to see what other New Yorkers are thinking during this time.

    Hi!

Sending you love! My date is the same and I’ll also be having my wedding in Hudson Valley. I was really starting to panic as of yesterday but reached out to my venue again and I attached their response here but it was very optimistic. My venue is not a traditional wedding venue it’s more of a bed and breakfast (it’s special to us- my family has done their reunion here for over 50 years). We’ve also made the decision to cut our guest list down to 100 (originally I was at 130 but we live on LI so we fee reducing it is safest). I plan to continue pushing forward unless they tell us otherwise or they tell us that we can’t exceed 85 guests - that is the lowest we decided we would go otherwise we will postpone. I know how much this all sucks so feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need a sounding board! !! Fall 2020 New York Brides 1

Where in NY are you getting married? How small are you making your alternative guest list? We're in the middle of doing the same and I'm really hoping for 50 at the very least. Any less than that would just be our immediate family. We're also holding off on making any payments and all of our vendors have been super understanding which has been nice. Our venue is having us come up with a plan B 2 months out and then we'll make our final decision 1 month out from the wedding. And yes I definitely felt the need to connect with my fellow NY brides! We're just in such a different situation than other states who are already starting to reopen.

Wow we are actually planning the same wedding! We're also getting married at a bed and breakfast lol! And that is SO sweet about it being the location of your family reunion! Also thank you so much for attaching the email from your venue, super helpful. I talked to a few of our vendors yesterday and it sounds like everyone in the wedding industry in the Hudson Valley is doing a great job at staying connected. I think what you did as far as giving yourself a minimum is brilliant. My fiance and I are in the middle of reevaluating our guest list and we are doing the same. Sending you love as well!

The Buffalo area! We did the same with an alternative guest list of 50 people, hopefully 25 from each side. If it’s less than that we’d do the same and just have our very immediate families! I spoke to my venue and they offered to change the date free of charge, but said that they think it’ll be fine by the fall (hopefully) so we settled to just keep our original date. With the pause act being lifted Friday there’s a glimmer of hope all will be okay, but my particular area is not meeting the criteria so unfortunately we won’t be opening just yet. It’s so great your vendors are being understanding, I’ve known some brides who unfortunately haven’t been so lucky :/

    Hi Fall twin brides
I am in Williamsburg Brooklyn and my Fiancé lives in Flushing Queens NY. Our wedding is in Mohopac NY October 17, 2020. I contacted my vendors and venue. We will know further details by end June or so. For now I will not postpone nor cancel. I hope we can all get married and get over this.
