"Fake" Ring

A friend of mine just told me that she's looking for a fake engagement ring to wear when she travels or for if she ever needs to send her ring in for sizing/repair. I've heard of people wearing silicone rings when they can't wear their actual ring but I've never heard of getting a ring that's...

A friend of mine just told me that she's looking for a fake engagement ring to wear when she travels or for if she ever needs to send her ring in for sizing/repair. I've heard of people wearing silicone rings when they can't wear their actual ring but I've never heard of getting a ring that's similar to their engagement ring but less expensive. Has anyone else done this or heard of it being done?

When I worked at Home Depot one of my co-workers did that because it is a ruff place to work when it comes to rings. So she just wanted to keep the real one safe and not damage it.

And when my FH and I get married he is going to have a real ring for when he is not at work, and he wants to get a silicone one for when he is at work.

I got one when my ring was getting repaired. It was $20 from Amazon, and CZ. Nothing like my e ring, but I didn't want a naked finger!!

I wore one for our honeymoon so I could leave it when we went to the beach. It was a really pretty 3-stone sapphire and cz ring from Amazon that could've been an e-ring! I intentionally chose something I'd wear on my right hand after

I have a promise ring that was about $200, when I got my real ring remade in rose gold I wore that so I'll probably just wear the promise ring any time I'm worried about the real ring being lost/stolen or damaged. But honestly I have ring insurance and it pisses me off not to wear the real one haha it's absolutely perfect.

I got cheap-o Qalo knockoffs from Amazon that I thought I would wear when I was walking the dog, working out, around the house, etc. But, I never remember to put them on. I will take them on the honeymoon though, so I don't have to worry about losing my ring in the pool or the sand. But I'll probably forget then, too.

I'd see no problem with this. My mom does that, and advises me to (I haven't yet). But she does because her real ring is in a lockbox in the bank. A few years back she'd forgotten it in her jewelry box at home while traveling and our house was broken into and all her good jewelry was stolen. She gets it for special occasions.

I have a few really inexpensive fakes I purchased when we first got engaged because FH and I didn't think I'd wear my heirloom ring as much as I do. I was super paranoid at first but my coworkers convinced me I was being a little ridiculous and could wear it on a daily basis without worrying; we work in an office in an ultra safe, suburban area. I will probably leave it with someone I trust and just wear a simple band when we travel internationally or if I ever have to travel alone for work. I wouldn't spend any actual money on a replica.

Silicone rings are the best! I wear them whenever working out and FH and I love to hike and such so it's perfect. Planning on a plain wedding band with no diamonds, so I will probably just wear that when I go on vacation, If the band choice changes, I will definitely be wearing my silicone one!

My band of choice is very simple so I don't think it will be a problem.

I don't necessarily understand why people wear a fake ring. Why not just have a naked finger? You're still married, ring or not.

I didn't wear a ring for a week. Didn't make me any less engaged.

If I'm worried about getting robbed on a trip or something I would leave my ring at home.

I hear about people doing this all the time, and I do this because i'm a flight attendant, and I don't want to wear my real ring, for fear of bashing it too much in the carts or leaving it at a hotel. I have a fake one I found for 25 bucks that looks similar and everyone thinks it's legit lol.

This is why you insure it.

I work at Kroger's as a bagger so I have plenty of chances to loose my ring as it could easily slip off as I'm bagging peoples groceries. My ring was my fh's great grandma's so I wear a fake ring to work

I have a Qalo ring that I wear to work out, at work sometimes (I work in a restaurant) and when I do outdoor stuff like kayak and hike. Wearing it makes me feel less anxious about losing or damaging my real ring!

I bought a sterling silver ring at wholesale price with a stone that I will be wearing for the honeymoon and that I wear to the pool and sometimes the gym. It doesn't look exactly like my real ring but it it more traditional than a silicone.

ETA: my real ring is also insured. But I'd rather have paid the $12 on a lost ring than an increased premium or deductible on the real thing.

I wear mine everyday since it was placed on my finger. I will never take it off. If someone decides to steal it, then that's what's going to happen. Let them have it! Not worth risking harm. That's what insurance is for!! Make sure you add it to your policy ASAP!
