Fake Eyelashes or not?

Julie, on November 13, 2012 at 3:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Ok... My current dilemma is whether or not to do fake eyelashes. I'm doing my own makeup so I know I've got to practice - and I'm not sure I have the time to devote to that. So I'm wondering if it's worth it. If it is, I'll make the investment.

So... What are you doing? For those of you that are already married, did you? And if you DIDN'T, do you wish you had? I know they make for better pictures, and lord knows I want the pictures to be nice. But I'm a crier and I don't necessarily want to be wandering around all night with a tube of glue, worrying about whether I've got an eyelash hanging...

Hey Julie, I had fake lashes. My MUA did the individual lashes instead of the strip. I LOVED them. I'm a HUGE crier too. And I cried A lot at my wedding. But Never did I once see an eyelash fall out. Oh, and your right they do make for some amazing pics. See Below. So I say make the investment if you can. Smiley smile Good Luck.

I've always been a makeup person and decided to do my own. I know what works for me, so I figured it would be better then paying someone. That includes wearing falsies as well. I have used the waterproof glue. Last time was on Christmas and I spent the whole night crying! (Parents were in town) Never once did they come off. Full lashes are so pretty!

Ok... You've all convinced me. I'll carve some time into this weekend to practice. I don't have the option to have a MUA (no time in the day to do it), but I'll definitely try to do it myself.

Andrea, do you have a particular brand that works best for you that you would recommend?

    Thanks so much ladies!

My MUA did fake lashes for me and i LOVED them. i'm not much of a crier so i didn't have that issue, but it was warm out and those things stayed on until late into the night!

lashes don't really take much time to apply by yourself, just make sure you do a few practice runs beforehand, and get good quality lashes and glue.

I want them! But seem to never be able to figure them out! LOL.. I always seem to get one eye good, and the other is a mess and crooked! lol maybe because they were the cheap ones?

But they are beautiful in pictures! Smiley smile

I had no intention of getting them for Cate'swedding. After seeing how they held up when we had our trial, I had to go for it. Both Cate and I had individual lashes.

Make-up was by Casey at Dylan Michaels Cosmetics.

Sandi, that's what I'm afraid of and is why I'm asking for recommendations in terms of brands. I'll even pay a little extra (especially since I'm not having a MUA) to be sure they don't look stupid. My natural lashes, however thin, would look better than badly applied lashes... Smiley smile

I'm not doing them. I would probably end up with pink eye or something with my luck. Some women have really long ones and they look so fake - not a look I'm going for.

My MUA did them for me but I just noticed they are currently running a promo for the holidays. They use Novalash and XtremeLashes, and they last 4-5 weeks. Even if you can't afford a MUA for the day you might can find an MUA who can apply them a few days before.

I think you should do them...they look so much better in my opinion...even the fake looking ones. Sometimes you have to make it look a little exaggerated so that they show up in pics.

I say go with the fake ones. I never wear them but figured on this one day when you are going to have cameras on you all day, why not.

I'll be wearing them as well. I find that even drug store lashes work well. The most important part is the glue. Just make sure you have good glue and $4 lashes will work fine.

Great lashes ladies. I didn't make lashes, cause with the wind and rain that we had there won't be too much left, plus my husband is against all the "fake" things that we women like to wear Smiley laugh but i did have a trick that made them look really full and thick.

As a MUA, I float both ways with regards to false lashes. Usually, by the time I'm done on a client, she finds she doesn't need them! By the same token, some gals just need them because their natural lashes just aren't long enough. False lashes do show up in pictures better, no doubt about that. The key is get very natural looking lashes. I highly recommend getting the invisible band type. I use Red Cherry #112 and #747S http://www.ladymoss.com/red-cherry/red-cherry-natural-lashes.html and I always use DUO clear surgical glue [find it at Walmart, Target, etc.] If you decide to go with false eyelashes, the key is PRACTICE! When applying the glue go sparingly.. a very thin line will do the trick. And make sure you give the glue about 15-20 seconds to get tacky before trying to apply to your natural lashes. I wear false lashes everyday because my natural lashes, due to genetics, are getting sparser. I remove them every night and reuse for several days. Hope this helps. Smiley smile
