Facebook announcement?

Is it tacky to announce wedding date on Facebook? Thinking of doing "so excited our big day is booked! July 22 2017 is the day, unfortunately we won't be able to invite everyone but you all will be in our hearts on our special day" We are only inviting 30 people. Immediate family and close friends. ...

I posted a few engagement photos etc as well as our wedding website and I can honesty say I regret it. I've had some random people ask weird questions such as "Is it invite only?" I personally have never heard of an open invitation wedding but I guess I opened Pandora's box with the post in the first place. So I'd say don't do it!

Bad idea to announce your wedding date on Facebook and any other social media platform unless you plan to invite everyone.

Don't do it! I did, however, right before our engagement party post a photo of each of us when we were little and said something like these kiddies will be married in one year, I can't believe it! Or something like that, because we put up childhood photos of us as decoration, and he was too cute not to share haha. But it was pretty generic. And people may or may have not noticed the caption saying it was a year out from the wedding. No one said anything that made me regret it.

If you want to make an announcement on FB make a private event or group and only add the people you will invite...even people you don't talk to much get butthurt about not being invited

Don't announce it ahead of time - changing your status and posting a few pics after you get back should be enough of an announcement. Keep it classy.

Personally, I do not like to announce life events (weddings, births, etc.) on social media. Especially if you have no intentions of inviting everyone following you.

I did when I booked my venue I was so excited to have a date officially set. No one had invited themselves at all. J can totally see how it would be such a bad idea. I guess I learned from all the poor etiquette all the other engaged ladies on my fb. Whoops!

I don't side eye people when they post their wedding date.

I do side eye when people add other shit like what you want to say and this couple I know who just said "Save the dates will go out later this year!"

Oh, so you're inviting all of us, including me who I haven't seen you in 5+ years? Doubtful.

We're only having 20 people at our wedding and we have not announced the date on facebook. We did announce our engagement on there but that's about it. The main reason we aren't putting much on there is because we're not invited most of our friends.

I think its okay to announce your engagement, but i see no reason to publicly announce that not all of your facebook friends are invites.

also it is very early to send STDs, i would wait until you are 6-8 months out

Date twin! I posted a pic of us after he proposed and there was one that was mad I didn't call her. I am not posting anything wedding date related because only a handful of my FB friends are on the guest list.

That sounds awful. Like I'm too good for you, but here's my wedding date. I know you wish you could be there. Lol

Katrina O. Have you decided where to go for your honeymoon if you are having a honeymoon? Im having a hard time picking a place to go because it's July lol. I want to go somewhere that's all inclusive for like $1200 max for the two of us.

My fiancé and I announced our date on fb, that doesn't mean they're all invited. We are just happy about our wedding day!

Please don't. What you wrote is likely to be interpreted as seeking attention, "I'm getting married, but you're probably not invited! Too bad!" Even if that isn't your intention.
