Facebook announcement?

Is it tacky to announce wedding date on Facebook? Thinking of doing "so excited our big day is booked! July 22 2017 is the day, unfortunately we won't be able to invite everyone but you all will be in our hearts on our special day" We are only inviting 30 people. Immediate family and close friends. ...

Yeah...not a good idea. I first made an engagement announcement through a private Fb group for specific family members, only because that's the only way to keep in touch with them. (Many of them live on the other side of the world, won't be invited, and even if they were, wouldn't be able to come.) A few weeks after that, I posted a pic of us and the ring on main Fb page. Never mentioned wedding date - god, no! Why do that?!! It's SO true that as soon as people get wind that you're getting married, they'll assume they're invited. No reason to advertise the date!

We got married on our dating anniversary, and for the last anniversary before that one, I said something like "happy 4 years and officially in the 1 year countdown to our wedding". I didn't really mention much about wedding planning on facebook, but I did make that one little comment. We didn't mention invites or lack of at all.

Agree with Krista and Brianna. You're probably going to open Pandoras Box for unwanted questions and stress.
