Eyelash extensions for wedding?

Lauren, on February 21, 2021 at 3:46 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11
Did anyone get eyelash extensions for their wedding or ever have them?? I thought I wanted them for my wedding in April. I had never had them so I got them two days ago and I’m already kind of regretting it. I’ve been doing all I’ve been told to to take care of them, including sleeping on my back which I never normally do! I seem to be losing some out of one eye only. Not a lot but enough that I notice the difference from the other eye. But now I feel like I have to keep getting them filled, at least until after the wedding , because if I just let them grow off I may be left without many natural eyelashes according to a couple friends. Has anyone had any experience with this or any recommendations on what I should do? If I don’t get them filled in I would still have to wear false eyes lashes on my wedding day.

My cousin got them and they DESTROYED her natural lashes. Unaware of her experience, I got them as well and ended up having a reaction to the adhesive used. Over several weeks my eyes & lids became itchy, watery, swollen and irritated until I finally had them removed. I lost a lot of volume from my natural lashes because of them too. Needless to say, I’m not a fan! Since then I’ve had my natural lashes lifted and tinted and I highly recommend both!

My friend got them just for her wedding last August and never had them refilled or anything and she barely had any lashes when they grew off. She started using castor oil and a serum and they look really good now but took a couple months. So now I just don’t know whether to keep getting them filled in just until the Wedding in April or risk having no eyelashes at all by just letting them grow off. I know after the wedding I definitely won’t get them again. I’m just so confused on what to do until then! But yes I wish I had heard more of the horror stories before I got them. I have several friends who love them. But I don’t know if they have ever tried to go without them sense getting them.

I strongly suggest to go with faux lashes, instead of extension. My friend lost a lot of her lashes after getting them done at reputable location. Like at least 50% or her natural lashes are gone when they removed the extension 😳

I wish I had known all this before I got them two days ago. I know they will grow back but I just don’t know whether I should risk not getting them filled before the wedding. I guess basically I could keep getting them filled until the wedding and risk more damage, or not get them filled again and risk not having many lashes when I get married and still having to wear faux eyelashes. I really have no idea what to do!

If I were in your situation, having only gotten them done two days ago, I would have them removed and focus on getting my natural lashes as healthy as possible before your wedding. It will lead to less damage to your natural lashes, and save you money. Just have your make up artist apply some harmless faux lashes on your wedding day.

I’ve had them before but stopped due to cost. I used Babe Lash after to rejuvenate my lashes. I’m getting them done for the wedding & will get a fill the week before. When we come back from our honeymoon, I’m going to have them taken off.

In your case I would remove them when it’s time and see how damaged or not your natural lashes are, then decide closer to your date which you prefer.

I did. Pre-covid, I also regularly got them done (almost 10 years!). I’ve never had any issues with my eyelashes all falling out. The only time I ever had an issue was when I drunkenly tore them out in Vegas when I was in college. I also use in conjunction with Latisse so that helps with my lash growth.

I've had them done..both extentions and fake..without any reactions. It sounds like the shop either didn't know what they were doing or you had a reaction. But that is not normal from what I have heard from others who get them done regularly.

My HMUA recommended lash extensions, but I’ve never had them before and my eyes are quite sensitive and I wash my face / sleep rough etc, so I did not get them done. I ended up with faux lashes and I’m quite happy about it. I would maybe reach out to the person who did them and see if it’s normal for them to be falling out already. I might just let them fall out and not get them done again to heal for your wedding!

I use to regularly get eyelash extensions! I loved them when I had them, but I'm a perfectionist when it came to them, so I would get them filled every 2 weeks! They were super high maintenance and got pretty expensive! I stopped getting them done because some Spring I get really bad allergies and I would want to rub my eyes or just wash my face in general and you can't do that with lashes.

When I got them taken off, I felt like my lashes were so bare. But that's because I was so use to the extension and seeing them long and full!

Right now, I use a lash serum in the morning and then castro oil at night and wow my lashes are getting so long and full!

For the wedding I'll probably just do fake lashes or the ones that last a few days.
