Extra Cake?

Ok so we are worried that we are going to end up with WAY more cake then we need, but there really isn't a way to make the cake smaller without losing a whole tier. Cost at this point isn't an option. For those who are already married... What did you do with extra cake? I was thinking of getting...

I was thinking of getting some bakery boxes and sending it home with the guest? Any thoughts on that idea??

I'm with Fluffy, if you have too much cake, I'll happily take it off your hands. Mmm...wedding cake...

Any leftover cake that your guests don't take with them you can take home and freeze.

I'm praying for leftover cake Smiley smile ours is a smaller, two tier (supposed to server 45 and current guest count is at 36), bottom layer is devils food with chocolate fudge/olallieberry filling, top layer is red velvet and it's all covered with white chocolate butter cream frosting.............yummm and like @rusticbride said - a little indulgence after watching every morsel that has gone into my mouth for the last 5 months will be fab!

Mrs. Marvel - we had cake left over and our caterer packed it up and my mom took it back to our house. She had a piece every day until she left to go back home. Smiley smile

I had thought of boxes for the guests as well, but DH didn't like the idea.

But here are the boxes I would have gotten.

Link doesn't work ... but they have them at Party City for $8 for the 24 ct.

I feel like my baker way underestimated how many servings we would get out of our cake. We had sooooooo much left over. We ate it for a few days and then I tossed it. We didn't save the top tier for our anniversary because ew. I don't want to eat old cake lol. But jeez we had a ton left. It was so good so I didn't mind eating it for breakfast for the next few days Smiley smile

Ours will serve more than needed, except that my family eat food like nobody else! I'm not expecting to have anything left but crumbs. I hope I at least get a piece! We sent the baker a list of the flavours we want to try last night - my mouth is still watering.

I love Pezzy's idea of taking leftovers to a homeless shelter - much better than throwing it out.

I hope we have leftover cake! More for us... Smiley smile

I like the box thing. I'd be chuffed if I was asked to take extra cake home... or Pezzy's idea of donating some to a homeless shelter.

Saved the top tier at my 1st wedding and had it on our anniversary...or maybe before? I honestly do not remember! Ha! But never have I seen a ton of a leftover cake at a wedding...it actually surprises me when I read about so many NOT eating the cake! I LOVE wedding cake!

My FH wanted to order a larger cake just so there would be extra lol, our baker and I convinced him there will be with the cake size we ordered.
