Experiences working with the venue and outside caterer for Asian banquet reception in la County/oc?

Kaytee, on October 10, 2021 at 11:56 AM Posted in California Planning 0 4

I'm planning a wedding next year and would love to see other people's more recent experiences working with a venue and outside caterer for weddings in the past 5 years or so.

I plan on asking potential caterers their past experiences having to use a kitchen that's not their own and how they'll handle delivering the food. At the very least, I want the guests to enjoy hot food like the next person.

That being said, it's easier said and done and would like to know other people's experiences with having this arrangement and what advice they could give for others who are considering this arrangement. Thank you!

Typically, outside caterers cook all food at their own locations and then transport the food to the venue (at least in my experience). The caterer we got for my sister’s baby shower packaged everything so that it was still piping (like, literally steaming) hot hours later.

We opted for an all inclusive package that our venue offered. Our venue had a kitchen that the caterer used for the final prep & all the food was hot & the salads cold.

Thanks for replying, Michelle! That's a bit more reassuring. I'll ask whoever is our finalized caterer on how they would prepare the food if our venue provides a kitchen.

That sounds the same to what I've heard from others when I shared the idea of having a caterer provide food for a venue, except those I've asked have soured experiences with cold food.

All of our potential caterers are located in Orange County and our venue is in Los Angeles, so it'll probably be a long drive. The venue has a large commercial kitchen, and I was hoping with the 12-hr rental time I was offered would give our chosen caterer enough time to prep and serve hot food.
