    If it’s in the budget I recommend hiring a coordinator. It’s not too late! We hired ours in January and my wedding is in July. I thought I had SO MUCH to do still but after meeting with her I realized how much I had done. She’s met with some of our vendors with us and tells me what to do when. She’s also going to be a huge help the day of prompting us when the cake cutting is, first dances, pretty much telling us where to be and when. She’s also going to act as a middle man for me so the vendors aren’t bugging me or my family during the wedding. She’s been a huge stress reliever. My planner had a few different packages at different price points so maybe you can find one in your area within your budget

    Laquita - take a deep breath! You still have plenty of time to sort through everything!

    Do you have a list you're working off of with all wedding related tasks on it? If not - The Knot has a great checklist, and WeddingWire also has one. If so - break that big list up into manageable chunks, and maybe only look at 3-5 tasks at a time. Focus right now on locking down the big vendors, then take a break. Baby steps!

    You have a year to plan. That's plenty of time. I didn't really start planning until I was about 6 months out. Take a break whether it's a few days or a few weeks to keep from being overwhelmed.

    I also suggest using a checklist. I found several and put them together to make my own as the items pertained to me. I know which need done/paid/booked first. I know when I'm out and about in Hobby Lobby I can grab a few things as they are on sale. I just keep mine in an Excel file, but I know some use journals. Just keep up with what you've bought or what you need to do for the week.

    Try just doing one thing a week. Whether it is booking a vendor, getting quotes from vendors, bridesmaids gifts, flowers, bouquets, etc. Soon, you'll be well on your way!

    I just got a planner and I'm very happy. It's one of my sorority sisters, if you need her information, let me know. I think her prices are reasonable. She helped me get organized more in a weekend than what I've been in this entire time and my wedding is a month away. I've been overwhelmed...

    She does travel, so you'd have to ask her about STL

    If you have it in your budget, I suggest a planner or even ask your venue if they offer that service. If it is not in your budget, do you have friends or family that could help you out with the small stuff. Maybe you just need a break. You have more than enough time to plan and pay. Take a week off and relax. You got this and it will all be fine. You literally have months before you really need to buckle down.

    Hi Laquita Smiley smile

    How has your wedding planning been since?

    Did any of the pp's advice work out? Have you looked into a planner?

    You need to breathe! If you feel that overwhelmed with a year to go, you'd better hire a coordinator. LOL! All jokes aside, you have PLENTY of time and you're going to be just fine. Many people hire coordinators and find them to be an incredible way to get rid of that extra stress. Just make sure to hire someone with very good reviews.

    Well I talked to my venue and they will take small deposit til I get the $2500. Then we will go from there. I don't have it in my budget for a wedding planner since the death of my son.

    Hi Laquita;

    Take a breath and relax for a second. First it's normal to have moments of feeling overwhelmed just don't stay there. Second I have been planning my wedding by myself for the past year. Doing a little of this a little of that and watching DIY projects for inspiration. When I finally spoke with my florist and showed her the items I had already prepared she was so impressed she told me I had saved myself a lot of money and she thought they would be a beautiful addition. So take your time invest it in things that make you and your FH happy. A planner is not in my budget but I am having a small 50 person wedding...it's my second wedding, so I should be able to handle this with my bridesmaids. Remember it's your day and meant to be enjoyed.
