Event Insurance

Sarah, on March 29, 2019 at 4:38 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19
We have to have $1,000,000 in event insurance. Yes you read that right 1 million in event insurance for our reception due to liabilities in the past that happened at this place.
How much did you pay for event insurance and for what amount? I can go through my home insurance but it will cost me $300-400 and I’m hoping to find some place cheaper.

The venue is requiring the vendors to have it . If I do get it, it won’t be until I am 2-3 months closer to my big day

This is a common thing for venues to ask for. Try wedsafe.com - they may have some lower prices.

Our venue is making us get wedding insurance through Wedsafe and it was fairly reasonable (we have 120 guests, outdoor-indoor venue).

A million in liability insurance is pretty standard. Check out wedsafe.

Use EventHelper - I have $1,000,000 in venue insurance with $100,000 per incident. My guest count is 275. I paid $135.

I paid $175 for my through my homeowners. They wanted $457 but that included all the cancellation insurance. I opted out of that and just got the liability insurance

That's actually not an unusually high amount for event insurance. There are event insurance companies that have very affordable prices. I've heard good things about Wedsafe.

Here where I live people are saying that’s nuts. No one I’ve talked to has paid over $400,000. That’s why I was shocked as well. Thanks!

We did it. The venue offered an option for $200. I found it for about 100

Used wedsafe! I thought it was a strange request, but found out after research it’s fairly common. (Your vendors will likely need to provide insurance and cover the venue as well!) $190 for us for $1M for an outdoor venue for 125 people including alcohol.

I paid $95-ish on EventHelper for $1 million as well. I have 100 guests. Wedsafe was another option, but it was going to cost me $150 I think.

Are you having it at a location other than a business designated as a venue? They normally would supply this. But I would shop around and be specialize the coverage criteria. I have paid as low as $120 for events with $1m coverage

Did you get your wedding insurance sorted? Did you end up going through your home insurance or elsewhere?

We also had to have a minimum of $1 million but we went through USAA and got 24 hour coverage including rehearsal for $127.
