Event Designer?

Janiya, on July 18, 2019 at 3:02 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Hi Brides! I've been debating on whether or not I should hire an event designer to come in to decorate and prepare both the ceremony and reception space. Does anyone find an event designer helpful?

I think this depends on a lot of factors.

Are you really detail oriented? Are you able to get into the venue early/the day before the decorate? Are you a perfectionist? If yes to all of these, you may want to do it yourself. We set-up our venue the day before the wedding and that was perfect. I was able to be in control of where everything went and I was still blown away on the wedding day when I saw how everything came together with lights and such.

If you are on a time crunch with set-up, if you don't care as much and can give the tasks to someone else with some direction, I think its worth it to hire an event designer.

Our DOC would have set up everything if we couldn't but we had the time so it worked out!

We'll have access to the venue the day before but only for a few hours to do rehearsal. I was thinking that some this time could be used for setting up the ceremony space which is heavy candle light with the arbor having just a drape over it. The reception we will need to put out all of the chargers and thank you place setting cards in addition to the candelabra's and heavy candlelight as well.

    Hi there Janiya Smiley smile

Personally, I would want an event designer to handle all the decor details so it would be one less thing off my plate! Having the day before and the morning of my wedding to relax with family and friends would be super important to me!

I feel peoples opinions on event designers will vary from wedding to wedding based on their experiences planning events, budget, time constraints on the day, etc.

Are you leaning toward hiring one? How does your FS feel about hiring an event designer?

We hired an event designer and for us it was money well spent for several reasons, 1. I'm not crafty, 2. We really didn't want to have the hassle of setting up or tear down, plus we didn't carve out time for it. 3. I also didn't want the hassle of storing or trying to sale wedding decorations afterwards. Those are just a few reasons. We paid for our hands off approach and we're happy we went that route...less stress.

I'm a crafty person, but I think I would be overwhelmed if I had to set everything up without help from a professional. My florist is assisting with design, and the DJ is providing uplighting. Its expensive but worth not having to worry about it.
