Evening Baseball Field Wedding?

Addy, on May 3, 2015 at 6:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hey there! I'm new to the site- this is my first post. Hoping to connect with other people who are in wedding planning overdrive. lol

Fiance and I are planning to get married at the local little league field (long story short... that's where we met/connected, where he asked me to prom back in high school, where we spend all our time (both of our families are actively involved in the league) etc. It may not be the most traditional or practical venue, it's special to us and we think it will make for a very intimate evening.

I have a vague picture of the way I'd like it to look, but am struggling to come up with ideas for how to jazz up/create a ceremony backdrop aside from lots of string lighting. Right now it's a dark wood fence (about chest-height) and chain link above that. Wondering if anybody from the wedding wire community has attended/planned a wedding at a ball field. I know it's a stretch, but Google has been no help! It's worth a shot. Any ideas are appreciated! Smiley smile

Welcome to WW! I have never been to a Wedding at a ball field but it sounds fun. I love how personal the place is to you and your FH. Have you looked on pinterest? Can you add some ribbon or drape some fabric to the fence as a backdrop? Or maybe make some personalized banners to jazz it up?

I love personal stories like yours, and unique weddings. If it were me, wouldnt it be cool to get married at home plate? Facing out of course. Then seat your guest at/around the area of the pitchers mound. Where are you having the reception? If it was early afternoon you could serve cake and ice cream in little helmets of your favorite team. Or rent a food truck?! Your favors could be a bag of peanuts in the shell. Lol fun theme! But its kinda cold in March. Can you wait til June?

Honestly, I'd leave it pretty much as is. You met at a ball field and the ball field is significant enough that you want to exchange your wedding vows there. Why turn it into something it isn't, especially for a short 30 minutes? It's still going to be ball field, no matter how many lights and flowers you add to it. The most I would do is set up an arbor at home plate and maybe string some lights on that big fence behind the catcher.

Iwould get married, at night when the field lights come on and skip the other lights on the fence.

I would get married on the pitchers mound! Love that idea, I would pass on too many decorations and go with baseball themed things like red and white or what ever your favorite team colors are. You could always string tulle along the fence and use the night time lights to light the way.

Welcome Addy! I love that idea...Very creative! I will attach a few photos for ideas. I agree with some of the others...Definitely try Pinterest! I would do some string lights on that dark fence you were referring to and maybe some lettering with your initials or maybe something fun like "Home Run!" Good luck on your big day!!

Hi. Welcome to Wedding Wire! How about designing the top of it or the sides with wite roses that looks like a baseball ball from afar? I haven't seen a baseball theme wedding but I think, that would be really nice and cute as well! Check these wedding favors https://www.pinterest.com/pin/92464598571516123/ you could include in your wedding planning service.

That sounds adorable! Just a heads up-- we've had even more spam than usual this week, and avatars help forum posters distinguish one another. If you change your avatar picture, you're more likely to get responses, ESPECIALLY with what's been happening at night around here.

Welcome to WW! Excited to see your plans unfold. Smiley smile
