I am planning a wedding in Norway in July 2021 and am starting to get a bit nervous about the situation with corona. I’m a Norwegian citizen and my parents live in Norway, while my fiancé and I live in the US. Our guests are about 50% from Norway and 50% American. Right now, Norway has corona very much under control and are already allowing gatherings of 200 people (we are only planning about 70). We plan to send out save the dates in August, but I’m starting to get worried that American guests might not feel comfortable attending. I think there is a chance there will be a vaccine by then, but obviously there is still a lot of uncertainty about that. I don’t feel like I want to postpone at this point, but what would everyone recommend as far as sending out save the dates?

Unfortunately, there is a lot of unknowns at this point. I would send saves dates to give guests a heads up. People don't RSVP with save the dates so it's not like you need an answer right away about whether they plan on attending.

I think everyone knows that COVID provides an asterisk with any dates, but on the save the date you can have something like "please visit our website for more information, including any COVID-related updates" along with the website url.

Many countries are not allowing travelers from the US to visit. I would definitely look into and keep an eye on Norway’s travel rules.

Like Hannah said, include a notice on your Save the Dates and keep your website updated with information.

Personally, I wouldn't fear about covid being as crazy next year. (JUST my opinion). I'd wait closer to to late October - early November to send the STDs) - Some of the crazy should be ending and people will think about travel again.
I'd also add a link to your wedding website to provide any updates and changes forthcoming.
