Etsy Wedding Rings?

Brittany, on February 26, 2018 at 1:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

FH went to Jared for my engagement ring, but I've been looking around on Etsy for wedding bands and they have such unique (and budget-friendly!) options! I wouldn't have thought to look there for our wedding bands but now I'm seriously considering Etsy as an option.

So I want to know! If you've ordered your wedding band(s) from Etsy: Pros? Cons? Storefronts you can suggest?

We haven’t ordered our wedding bands but we do plan to do from Etsy! And like you said, lots of unique options. FH ordered my engagement ring from Etsy, a shop called Benati in Iran. I absolutely love it. It’s not extravagant and bling but it’s absoutely perfect with details that fit my (and his) personality well (outdoorsy). we’ve found some pretty cool bands for him on there that are carbon fiber too. But Etsy is a good option of traditional ones as well but I like how different the options are! I’ve attached a photo of mine (pictures don’t do it justice) and what we like for his! (We don’t care about being matchy).

Cons: No quality control, no way to know if you are getting diamonds, no AGS affiliation, no way of finding out you are buying blood diamonds or other high conflict stones like sapphires or rubies (actual stores can trace their stones as long as they follow the Kimberly Process), and they often allow base metals with fine metals to offer those lower prices.

    Pros: Cheaper

PS: for the band I’m thinking of getting one with the leaves all around (offered by the shop) or another one I saw that that looks like a branch/twig (hard to explain haha) from another shop

Thank you for taking the time out to inform me of the cons! I appreciate it!

Does anyone have any suggestions of stores that have unique options like what I might see on Etsy, but avoids the cons listed above?

This is the band I bought him from Ash Hilton on Etsy. Great customer service! I actually had found this ring on Pinterest lol.

I got the matte finish which has proven to be annoying in that it will look shiny at some point after long wear however, they sent a small kit to maintain the matte finish. According to their shop they only use conflict free materials and do offer an array of metals. I obviously take them at their word. For a simple band such as this one, I didn't mind buying from Etsy but if he wanted anything elaborate I probably would have gone through Blue Nile.

Find a jeweler close to you that accept custom designs. This way you can have them sketch out precisely what you want. This way you don't have to compromise but you get the unique look you want. I have a unique custom engagement ring which is semi-custom (it was ordered from their supplier, Stuller). No one has my precise engagement ring. They will also give you diamond/gemstone/metal consultation so you get the information as to why some things are more expensive than others. This is something you will wear for years. It may seem crazy to pay a decent amount by a stoneless gold band can be as little as $200-$500.

Ours are both from Etsy but neither of us have gems on our bands. They’re both excellent quality and we love them.

I looked at a bunch on etsy, but I ended up getting ours on Amazon. Some of the ones we looked at one etsy were being sold by the same people/company on Amazon for slightly less. I felt more secure ordering from Amazon because of the return policies. I've had problems with previous etsy orders and had issues with getting refunds etc. Etsy isn't much help with those issuers. Ours didn't have any stones so I wasn't worried about any of that. These are our rings

I purchased my FH’s wedding band on Etsy from a shop called Revolution Jewel. My FH loved that the ring allowed him to have orange in his band since it’s his favorite color Smiley smile

My true engagement ring is yet to come in, but it’s from Etsy and absolutely stunning. Not at all costumey, exactly what I wanted and a good price for what it is. The reviews are spectacular for the shop and that’s def what I would pay attention to

Engagement ring from Etsy. Can’t remember the seller atm, but she does a lot of work with gem stones and woodsy looking rings. I had no issues and was able to pick out which emerald I wanted from choices she presented. I also was able to craft parts of the ring that were special to me (like the white gold band with rose gold flowers.) my advice is do a lot of research on the seller first.

We got our wedding bands on Etsy from Pompeii3. I knew DH was going to switch to silicone bands after the wedding day, so I didn’t want to spend much on his “dressy ring”. For myself, I wanted two bands, and they are exactly what I expected!

My FH got my rings from RSTStudio. They were amazing especially since there were issues with the postal service. It’s an aquamarine stone in rose gold and I absolutely love it!! So many compliments wherever I go. Adding the stock photo and not my hand as im

Etsy has some great ideas for wedding bands, but as was mentioned before you don’t know if they are quality controlled and GIA certified diamonds. I would look on eBay, because they usually have the GIA certificate if you want a cheaper price. I don’t know where you live, but places like the diamond district in the city are great as well. Look for sales as well at jewelry stores.

We bought my engagement ring and wedding band as a set off Etsy and I have zero regrets! We used Ayala Jewelry, which is based out of Israel. The customer service was phenomenal, they were able to customize my stone shape (I got the main stone in morganite) and the price was awesome. They sent me an appraisal slip, but I have a GIA certified gemologist in the family and asked her to appraise it for me. She appraised it at 4x what I paid for it, verified all the stones are real and the rose gold is the kt they said it was. I'd recommend Ayala to anyone and everyone!

My e-ring/band set is from Etsy, though it’s an actual jeweler that has a store in Chicago. The seller is RosadosBox. I think you can order off Etsy, just do research on the seller. And I wouldn’t go cheap on your wedding bands just to save a little money (if you can afford more), it’s supposed to last forever Smiley smile
