Hi Ladies! Curious to see if anyone here has, or knows of a bride that purchased a wedding dress through a dressmaker on Etsy? I've been discussing modification of a dress I found on Etsy made by Amelia Wedding Designs in Latvia. Their web site and IG page claims they are a small shop that is up and coming and recently featured in the July or August edition of Vogue (not sure if US or Europe version). Their dresses are beautiful boho styles. She has been really timely on responses and things seem legit so far. But I'm a little nervous about the process. Wanted to see if anyone else has done this? I'm not having luck finding what I really want locally or online or on resale sites, and the idea of helping design my own dress is really exciting to me!

I didn't go through Etsy but found a shop through another online platform and my dress came out perfectly! I did a LOT of research before I ordered, especially any and all reviews. The only thing that strikes me as odd about yours is the Vogue thing. Have you been able to find it?

Thanks! I haven't looked yet for the Vogue issue but I'll dig more. The piece they had on their website was a small mention of the designer and one photo in a spread on unique wedding dresses. I read through all of the reviews on Etsy, found a few US customers. Went through a lot of the reviews and posts from brides on their site...most were European but did find some US brides. Their IG page is active and not all posted at once. They have been around for 5 years or so.

I had my dress custom made by Ieie Bridal and it is perfect! We emailed back and forth I think about 40 times by the time I received my dress. If I ever needed another formal dress she would be the first one I would go to!

I didn't purchase my dress from that seller, but I did buy mine from BlushFashion on Etsy. I actually tried (and returned) several of her dresses before landing on my "Yes" dress. Her quality is amazing!

Here’s a picture of the original dress and me in my custom dress. I added illusion neckline, raised the waist, did custom sizing, I also removed all the boneing because I am wearing a corset underneath my dress

I looked into ordering a dress from Etsy, but ended up going with David's Bridal. However, if you read the reviews and if the seller has consistent communication, I say go for it!

I haven’t but I’m guilty of watching an Etsy shop’s Youtube because they make videos of all the dresses they made for their brides! I really loved one of their dresses and almost bought it but we didn’t have a venue yet, then when we did I found my dream dress! Oh well, still fun to watch the creative dresses brides had made.
