Etsy Wedding Dress?

Josie, on January 20, 2022 at 2:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Anyone bought their wedding dress on Etsy? What was your experience like? I've gone to a few Bridal shops in my area to try on dresses and I can't seem to find anything I really like. I'm in a major city, so it's not like my options are slim, and still nothing. Most dresses I've tried are either not really my style, or are super expensive! I don't care about designer brands, I just want a cute dress that I love. I was looking through Etsy and I've seen so many dresses that I would love to wear and the prices are great! They are also made to order based on your measurements. At this point, ordering from Etsy makes the most sense! Some shops I'm considering are Olivia Bottega and Deliza Bridal, both of which are based in Russia, so it would have to be shipped quite a distance. My sister said it's crazy to buy a wedding dress before ever trying it on, but they both have great reviews and the dresses look to be good quality. Anyone have some Etsy Wedding dress advice/experience to share before I pull the trigger? lol. Thanks!

I've not ordered my wedding dress through etsy, but I have ordered several other dresses that were made to measure (not from those sellers, to be fair), and generally my experience has been really good! I think if there are decent and plentiful reviews and you like the pictures.... I'd definitely consider it!

I've seen Olivia Bottega and heard some good things (just general scrolling, and reading reviews of hers). I've not heard much about the other you mentioned!

I think if it was me, I'd try on a bunch of silhouettes to be certain I knew what looked good on me first, just to be sure, but if you've done that and read a bunch of positive reviews... why not?

To save on costs for the dress, I would do it! There’s nothing wrong with buying your wedding dress online especially if it’s made to fit you, but I think fair warning that if your wedding is far away and you go up or down a size, that’s what I’d personally be worried about.

Some people like to order a size up when they order a dress, so they can have it altered to fit. I think that’s something to consider. But most people that wrote reviews that’s IVF seen on Etsy are really happy with their dresses after giving their measurements so it’s made specifically for you. The wait time may vary being from Russia too!

My wedding is late October, so luckily I do have time on my side to account for any shipping deIays. I plan on getting my measurements professionally taken by a seamstress, and most likely using the same person for alterations. I do plan on losing a bit more weight before the wedding, so whichever dress I get will need to be taken in anyway.

Loads of time! It sounds like you should be okay! Stay confident! If none of the boutiques or shops near you are cutting it in terms of price & “the one” dress, then allow yourself to fall in love with the dress you want!

Happy shopping and all the best in the process! x
