Etsy seller unhappy with my review

KayWell, on May 23, 2014 at 1:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 35

So my invitations were beautiful (albeit with minor mistake made by the etsy seller), but the customer service was lacking, and definitely put a damper on my experience with the seller. I let this be known in my review, and the seller responded with a long letter. she stated that she was dissapointed with the review, was shocked by it and, at length, countered each of my points in the review. Though I felt i was fair (3 stars "just ok" by etsy's own standards), she was respectful, so I sat down and very respectfully responded in another long letter. I discussed her counter points, and even offered to up my review to one star. I invited her to continue the conversation if she wished. i regret it now, because I feel my respect-o-meter slowly draining. I wasn't happy with her shop, but loved the product. she tried to make it up, but it wasn't enough to fix the black cloud she cast on the experience, and i made that clear in the review, but NEVER trashed the quality of her product. continu

I made it clear in the review that I loved it product, even with the minor mistakes. I just finished another email to her... but i'm getting mentally fatigued. I don't want to be a biotch, this is her livelihood, but she made mistakes and I think I was more than gracious in my offer to up stars. just done, but i know another letter is coming. i just want this to be over. I guess being nice dosn't get you anywhere but exhausted. urg, where are all the fun wedding planning tasks? i need a few of those to pop up on my schedule to brighten this up!

Your review was honest. It is IMPORTANT for other buyers to know what to expect, otherwise you will have more frustrated people. I surely appreciated honest reviews ( as a buyer). Don't worry about it.

Oh and to add, I wouldn't have added another star. You gave her 3 for a reason and maybe now she will be more careful with future buyers.

She keeps stating that the review is supposed to be on the product alone. I get that, but i feel its dishonest to give her 5 stars and not let people know about the problems.

I think it's totally unprofessional to argue a review. The only acceptable response would be if the customer was unhappy and to rectify the situation. Otherwise, it is what it is. I would just ignore her.

Haha, so someone can produce an amazing product but give shitty customer service? lol, ignore her, she is nuts to think so.

Yeah, I felt like a chump offering the star, but it was in concession to the fact that the review IS supposed to be about the product.

I agree with Miss S. Although Etsy sellers want excellent reviews, they have to earn them. An honest review with both pros and cons is extremely helpful to other buyers, even if the seller isn't happy about parts of it.

Not cool to argue with your review. You were honest in all that you said. Leave it at that.

Where on Esty does is say that the review is supposed to be on the product alone????

I see no problem with reviewing your entire service experience, including but not limited to the product. As long as you were clear in your review about why you rated it the way you did (ie. product = amazing, service = meh), you are done.

You are not obligated to respond any further. Be done.

I don't want to buy from someone who gives shitty service and she knows, as a seller, that's part of the deal. Don't give shit service if you don't want shit reviews! I would ignore her from here on out.

Kwells, I just read through their policy. I didn't see anything that says you have to review ONLY the product….

I just wouldn't respond anymore or just send one last correspondence stating something along the lines of: I've really said all I can on this subject and I'm pressed for time. I wish you luck in the future...

To me a review, of any kind, is never based on one thing it is based on your entire experience. I would just be done responding to her.

When sellers respond to negative aspects of reviews, they only make themselves look worse-- I see it *a lot* on the WW reviews-- someone gives a vendor a low rating, and the vendor feels the need to make an excuse for every single complaint. Hello!! It just makes you look like a cry baby! Why not just say "I'm very sorry you were disappointed with such-and-such. Please feel free to contact me directly so we can find a way to make it up to you."

Anyway-- I'd ignore any further communication from her. She is totally wrong that it is supposed to be about the product-- what a silly notion!

I review the entire exp as well... and because you can change it at any time she should play nice. I would have dropped it by a star!

I would personally downgrade the review to 2 stars instead of 3, the reason being that the seller made you go through the entirely unnecessary task of wasting time on defending your opinion. Talk about awful customer service!

Ignore her. You've spent way more than enough time dealing with this seller. Other potential customers need to know the truth about the seller, so good for you for being honest about your experience.

Don't change your review. If anything I would add to it to say being harassed over a fair review is making you edit it to deduct another star. The reviews should not be over the product alone. What if someone gives you a beautiful product but it takes 6 months to receive and your wedding is passed... You have to leave 5 stars? I don't think so!

Definitely don't give her another star and don't write her back. Good reviews are earned, and it is NOT just about the product, but about the entire experience. Just let it go and move on.
