So my invitations were beautiful (albeit with minor mistake made by the etsy seller), but the customer service was lacking, and definitely put a damper on my experience with the seller. I let this be known in my review, and the seller responded with a long letter. she stated that she was dissapointed with the review, was shocked by it and, at length, countered each of my points in the review. Though I felt i was fair (3 stars "just ok" by etsy's own standards), she was respectful, so I sat down and very respectfully responded in another long letter. I discussed her counter points, and even offered to up my review to one star. I invited her to continue the conversation if she wished. i regret it now, because I feel my respect-o-meter slowly draining. I wasn't happy with her shop, but loved the product. she tried to make it up, but it wasn't enough to fix the black cloud she cast on the experience, and i made that clear in the review, but NEVER trashed the quality of her product. continu

100% agree with everyone that a review should be based on overall experience, not just the product. If I go to a restaurant and the quality of food is excellent but the service is shitty, you're damn right it's going to affect the rating.

I run an eBay store for a company and we expect our reviews to be based on both our products and our service. We have a high rating and a large part of that is because we try to always provide the best customer service we can. While we will try to rectify the situation if a customer is unhappy, you shouldn't ever feel bullied into reversing a review.

I'd just ignore any further e-mails. Just delete them and don't even read them.

If it was me and I left that review, I wouldn't have even read that first reply that the seller sent. I left my honest review for them, and nothing they do afterwards can change it because the transaction is now finished.

Just let it go and move on.

The seller was butthurt, that's on her. If you were honest and detailed in your review, you've done nothing wrong. I mean, if something I provided was lacking in any way, I'd want to know! It's hard to win, you don't say anything and you aren't helping them improve....if you do some appreciate it and learn from it, and others get butthurt. Darwin sorts them out. You gave your review, it certainly wasn't bad, it's her choice whether to be butthurt or improve. Ranting to customers only shows they don't understand business.

I wouldnt up the stars. The review was honest and people need to know. She needs to change her customer service if it is lacking

Just shake it off. I recently wrote a review for an item and the seller proceeded to tell me how upset they were with me, how childish I was, and that I should be ashamed of myself. So I added all that information to the review, but never wrote the seller back. They were clearly lacking any professionalism.

I run a review blog and have gotten arguments from authors before on less than stellar reviews of their books. I don't author-bash, but one even took it to twitter, which only made her look stupid and ridiculous...and unprofessional.

Everyone wants a good review, but reviews are subjective, and when you are talking about internet purchases, it's entirely subjective to the overall experience. Ignore her and don't up your stars because that would be dishonest to future buyers who read your review.

I don't think I can go back on my offer to up the star rating, because I was stupid and said I would. I am a woman of my word. But I am going to end this monkey business with her next reply. It's true, it's my review, and if it was someone else in my position, I would want to know. The worst part is that is she offered thank you cards for free as a make up for the invitation mistakes before all of this, and they haven't arrived yet. I'd be surprised if I get those now.

You owe her nothing. If it made her feel better to write you back and explain herself then fine, but she's owns a business and she has customers and they have opinions. That's part of having a business. You have every right to rate her the way you did and you don't have ANY explaining to do. Your experience was your experience and that's that. I wouldn't get in touch again and I'd leave the review as it is.

Leaving a review for the whole process, customer service to receipt of the product, is what is expected. You did nothing wrong and I would let it go.

Maybe try reminding the seller that she has other reviews which may outweigh yours, and leave it at that. Not sure why she is so focused on one mediocre review.

When I write reviews on Etsy, I also think of my overall experience not just the product. It's honestly what I believe others to want to hear. It's nice that the product was cool and all, but what if the overall experience was terrible. I want others to know that!!!

I wouldn't apologize so much to the individual shop owner, but tell her you are just trying to help other people. I also, wouldn't give her another star at all.

Ignore her. Reviews are for service AND product. No one would want to buy something from a seller, no matter how great the product, if the seller was terrible.
