Extra. I did a program poster that will be in a frame on an easel displayed during the ceremony and reception.

This is tough. Depends on what type of ceremony. If I'm going to a Catholic ceremony, I do look for one. For a small quick wedding, no need.

I think this is a great way to share this information! This is very thoughtful and I'm sure they'll appreciate it!

Extra. Our ceremony is short and nonreligious and we only have one bp member, so it's a waste of money for us even though I think they are cute.

Essential. Perfect to save for scrapbooking or memory box. When you can find pretty ones online for free, why not? It also announces who people are in the wedding and to the bride and groom for people that don't know.

Totally an extra cost that most will probably end up being garbage anyway. However I wouldn't mind like a sign or chalkboard ideal depending on wedding venue and/or style.

I’m leaning more on the extra side. I think they’re a nice touch and helps to keep everyone on track but let’s be honest here..if you need a full itinerary program then you probably have planned too much and gone a little overboard.

Essential. But dont need to be this big thing. People like to know who is in the wedding party and the order of the ceremony. I also included info like what to do at a Catholic ceremony if you arent catholic which people really liked.

I totally disagree with your last section - a full religious ceremony needs a full program so everyone can participate in the prayers. It would be the height of arrogance to expect your guests to know exactly what to say without giving it to them and you would be leaving out everyone that does not go to the same denomination church frequently enough to have it memorized (and even some people that are in church every single week need to read them every time to participate. Its just bad manners to NOT give a program when you are having a religious ceremony and it has nothing to do with over planning - its literally what is given to you in the prayer book - requires basically no planning at all (there are some reading options but very minimal).

In the case of a religious ceremony I agree that it would be a necessity. However I’m speaking more in terms of every other type of ceremony I believe it’s a bit much to have a program. Most of my comments made on these forums are in reference to my own wedding planning.

I'm making my own because my sister has a brother machine and it will cost about 15 cents each and I want a few songs to play before the groom comes out. But it's totally extra and if it wasn't for the beginning being a little funky I wouldn't worry about. I don't think I've actually been to a wedding that had them either.

I'm sorry if I misread you. The way you worded "let’s be honest here..if you need a full itinerary program then you probably have planned too much and gone a little overboard." made it sound like you were negatively judging everyone who has said that they were essential - most of us talking about long religious ceremonies which are still very common and not exclusive to one religion.
