Engagement style ring as wedding ring?

Carissa, on October 25, 2019 at 12:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 12
Does anyone else like the engagement style rings more than the wedding ring/band style? Im thinking about using what is labeled as an "engagement ring" as my wedding ring. Thoughts?

Do you already have an engagement ring? If so, I think it would look/feel a little awkward to have two engagement style rings on the same finger lol. Unless you only plan on wearing one ring, in which case go for it!

Plenty of people wear their engagement ring as their wedding ring and never get a band. Do whatever your heart desires.

I do. My engagement ring is more of like a fashion, stackable ring; the simplicity of it is beautiful! Its slim with no center stone but 15 small black diamonds. I thought the engagement ring I have would look nice with a ring that has a 1 CT center stone. My wedding ring (labeled an engagement ring) would essentially stand out more

Have you considered getting an enhancer? I'm using an enhancer as my wedding band. Unless it's important to you to actually have two separate rings, then I suppose that won't work

That sounds like a great idea! At the end of the day, you and FH would be the only ones who would really know which was which anyways Smiley smile

I never got a second ring/band for my wedding, we just took our 'engagement' rings off and exchanged them at the wedding. It's your finger, your jewelry, your feelings -- you do you. If you wanna do that, do it. We both agreed it was a waste of money to worry about a band and that we'd be better off with exchanging what we had -- no one will know the difference and it's no ones business what you do.

My engagement ring is more of a band with no big center stone, so for our wedding rings I got an engagement style one! There is nothing wrong with that at all Smiley smile

It truly is whatever you feel most comfortable with. As a PP suggested, an enhancer is also a great option to look into Smiley smile

That sounds fine. It’s all personal preference. I agree with PP that two center-stoned rings would be a bit odd (only mostly because I feel like they would be uncomfortable together!) but with the more simple engagement ring, it sounds really nice!

Get whatever you like! My wedding band is actually an anniversary band but I love it with my engagement ring!

Yup! I simply took off my e-ring and used it in the ceremony. I don’t like the look of a band.

I’m doing just that! My actual e-ring didn’t have all the sparkle I usually like in my personal taste of jewelry but it means so much to me that that’s what my fiancée chose so I’m kinda “cheating” and having my wedding ring (that I chose) in my usual style. Which happens to be more engagement..y haha

(I have them on backwards here but my wed-ring is actually a size up and fits comfortably but my sapphire e-ring I’ve found holds it in place perfectly when swapped around the “right” way)
