Engagement Rings with colored gemstones

I NEVER liked diamonds... ever since a little girl i had always dreamed of mine and his birthstones on a ring... Ruby and Blue Topaz.... i know 2 other girls in my friend's group that hated diamonds too, 1 had a black pearl and the other had a blue sapphire for their engagement rings... it's a ring you will most likely wear the rest of your life... make sure it's "YOU" and that you will love wearing it!

I’m so late on this comment but I had to chime in! I personally think it’s awesome when brides choose rings that are unconventional, especially with a different stone than a diamond! I personally am going with a heart-shaped pink sapphire in my setting, it’s my favorite color and my wedding ring set will be rose gold with diamonds so it’s a perfect way to add some color. The ones you posted are so pretty! I love unconventionality especially when it comes to something special like an engagement ring!

Oh, I would love to take a look at your heart sapphire ring !! I fully support your opinion about non-standard wedding rings. Moreover, it seems to me that very soon everyone will just get tired of colorless diamonds and there will be a real boom for a ring with colored precious stones.

Wedding rings with precious multicolored stones are a very original choice. I also like rings with colored stones.

I love them too! Definitely recommend looking for options that you like. Sometimes vintage can make a lot of sense for these kinds of rings too - check EraGem. Also, Market Square Jewelers has some cool pieces including some gorgeous sky blue zircon stones that I drool over.


Do keep in mind that opals are very delicate stones. They can fade with exposure so best for rings you only plan to wear occasionally.

I love colored stones! I'm not a diamond person at all.
Be aware that unless it is a harder stone such as sapphire or ruby, which are as expensive as diamonds, you may have to take your ring off throughout the day to prevent damage.

My grandma's engagement ring was almost exactly that first ruby ring but in yellow gold instead 😆 she's been wearing hers every day since 1987

My original e-ring is a ruby set in yellow gold with diamonds flanking it! And I'm thinking I'm going to wear this piece handmade by my late MIL back when she was a jeweler as my primary ring. My ruby is set too high and as a mama I'm constantly knocking it into things it's starting to show a little more wear than I would like! Here's the one I'm considering wearing now. It's a deep blue sapphire set in a halo of diamonds. Like a much smaller version of Diana's ring haha.

Wear what you love and ignore other opinions. I think gemstone rings are gorgeous.

My engagement ring is a rose gold band with diamonds and a heart shaped pink sapphire. I LOVE it! I think diamonds are so overdone so I wanted something a little different/unique. I think colored stones are becoming more and more popular now!
